Any Questions... I work at a Dealer
fordnut replied to SteveA27's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
I guess our Ford Answer man must have answered to many questions, he hasn't posted in a while. Speaking of posting, where is everybody? I though everone was excited about their new Fusion like I am. -
I guess I will be the welcoming committee. I just signed up a few day ago myself. I bought an '08 White Suede 3.0 V6 Fusion with most of the options. It's to bad this message board isn't more active huh?

I think I have something missing on my engine
fordnut replied to fordnut's topic in General Powertrain Discussion
It does now. I showed the service manager at my dealer the picture of an engine like my in a 2008 Fusion catalog with a plastic cover over the cam shaft pulley. The owners manual also shows one so he got one for my engine. That plastic guard cost almost $100 if you had to buy one. I wonder why the '07 had it and the '08 doesn't. It's probably a cost savings thing. -
Push the Media button on your steering wheel twice. The work "LISTEN" should appear on the top left of the nav system screen. After you hear a beep say, SATELLITE RADIO. The systems voice will say" "SATELLITE RADIO, PLAY". You can repeat the same commands for the CD player and the regular radio.

I don't think it's a fair to compare the Fusion sales to that of the Accords and Civics that have been produced for many more years than the Fusion. I can remember the reaction when the Honda Civic first came out. People were very skeptical about it's future also.

A lot of folks with very little driving experience, especially on ice and other slick surfaces don't understand that just because you have ABS, 4 wheel drive, All wheel drive or front wheel drive will not guaranty good control in adverse road conditions. I've driven in road conditions so bad that 15 MPH was too fast in some cases. Please don't be disappointed because your car doesn't do well on ice. There are few vehicles that will negotiate those kind of road conditions. Sorry about your accident. I hate to see anyone wreck there nice car.

I would like to find a nice set of polished stainless exhaust tips for my '08 SEL. I wouldn't want to go anymore than 3" outlet diameter and tapered like the stock set. Anybody seen anything like that? I don't want any NOPi looking tips.

Did the price advertised for the hood include color matched paint? Most likely not huh?

Does anyone sell a cover for an '08 Fusion
fordnut replied to fordnut's topic in Accessories & Modifications
Thanks a lot for the help. I'll check them out. -
The front engine bank has the cam pulley on the driver-side of the engine. My engine does not have a plastic guard over the cam pulley that should be there. I saw another same model Fusion this morning with the 3.0 V6 that had the plastic guard over the cam pulley. There's a picture of a 3.0 V6 in my owner/operator manual that also shows one on the engine. The parts department told me that the plastic pulley guard is not a serviceable item. I wonder what the heck that means, not serviceable. I've got an exploded view of the engine, water pump and related items and it shows the plastic cam pulley guard but the part number or item number is only 8A590. This is one of the hazards of dealing with a small town dealership, they don't know near as much or have the training some of the larger dealers have.

I just picked up my new '08 SEL and it had that terrible looking black plastic front licence plate bracket. I have removed it now there are 2 holes in the bumper I need to find a couple of plugs for. I would like to find something that I can have color match painted. Any idea?

Need New Windshield
fordnut replied to Diane's topic in Maintenance, Recalls and TSB (Technical Service Bulletins)
I just had the windshield in my '07 F150 replaced and they told me that the vehicle should not be driven for at least 24 hours. The only thing that holds the windshield in is the adhesive. -
My Fusion will have to set out in the weather until I get a carport so I was wondering if there are any nice cutom cover that wouldn't scratch the paint.

I live in a small town in Southeastern Oklahoma with only one Ford dealer within 150 mile radius. The local dealer only has had one Fusion on the lot and it was a low end 4 cylinder car with no extras. This is farm country and most everyone drives a truck of some form or other. When I decided to buy a Fusion, I had to go out of town to test drive a loaded SEL V6 to see if I liked it as well as I had hoped. I retuned to my hometown dealer and ask them to find what I was looking for at another dealership. They found exactly what I wanted 3 or 4 hours away. It should be here tomorrow.
