  1. What ever happened to Freeze frame data? And memory codes? You would think the throttle would be linked to engine control and intergrade the codes to show freeze frame and memory of the code even after the car has been turned off. I can understand the transmission faults not showing any type of freeze frame but most I delt with had memory codes. Seems to me that thiese new cars were wired badly. Mine feels slow on take off but thats Drive by wire for you. My brothers 90 750il was the poster child to fly by wire and its sucks. Cool car thogh. Fly by wire = save the transmission. But= more BS to fail. Just put a throttle cable in there ford. First time out the dealership I had to send it back for a reflash. Wranch light came on. Ever since, I had not had a problem other than the throttle not responding quick enough every now and then. I'm mile and aged out of warrenty. Good thing I'm a great mechanic and electronics guru. (BTW most good independent shop mechanics will walk all over dealer mechanics. ONly advantage dealer mechanics have is the test equipment and eveyone does only one thing..engine guy, suspension guy, tranny guy. ect. ) I can see how those techs missed in diagnosing. They follow a chart to try to find the problem if they don't have a code. Problem is most of the time that chart goes nowhere. Most techs can't read a schematic right or trubleshoot electrical wiring.
  2. Wow, Nice. Reminds me of a diesel engine running on gas. This is a really good step toward Higher Brake Spesific fuel compsumption. I'm supprised they didn't try this technology with the old ford dual plug head 2.3l engines with turbo pistons from the SVO/ T-bird Turbocupes. On the reply about the oct gas, The desighn of the chamber, cam timming all controll the flame front. So the need for higher octane isn't really important anymore for gas milage thanks to Engine controlls changing timming on the cam and spark. Search "The Old One" http://www.theoldone.com/articles/itisdiff...ehardheads.html It was said that running E85 requires about 1.5 times more than regular gas. This is because the engines using it weren't fully desighed for it. They requre higher cranking pressure, or turbochaging to take full edvantage of it. Try running low octane on a high cranking pressure engine or turbo engine and your aching for truble (detonation). The fuel preignites because of heat and pressure (think diesel).
  3. Well I decited to see what the little four can do since this was a powerful little engine that could that I can finaly compare to the GMs Quad4. Ztech sucks BTW. Anyway Went to San Antonio Raceway, good weather. Not a perfect day for me though since I could only do two runs (too many cars, GF bitcheing about her period LOL) 2006 fusion, Automatic, no spare or jack, 1/4 tank of owl piss gas (87oct) 83 MPH 17.01sec Thought I would muster a mid 16 out of her. Everything was stock, but I had a home brew filterless CAI (race only). Next time I'm going to try a ram air setup that gained me 1 second on a 90 SHO. I also noticed its less powerful with the 93 oct stuff. 89 seems fine. I'll try octanes after the ram air.
  4. Mine is also brown. 06 fusion I4. I think I'm going in for a compleate service. This is the first tranny I had that the oil turned brown quick. I partly blame it on the wide gear spacing between 1st and 2nd and the soft shifting programmed into the tranny (like slipping the clutch on a manual). I just hope the fusion has better solenoids than that of the crappy Jaguars and VW had on thier JF506e. Think this is the same tranny. All those trannys toast the clutches when the solenoids go bad. Not to mention a craking apply piston. The bad thing about dirty or burnt oil is that it has junk in it that the trans filters cannot filter out. I've taken apart trannies before and the filter can only trap large particles. The valve bodies and solenids get cloged up with friction meterial (asbestos) and junk making them shift real bad. Hence the development of the tranny FLUSH machines. Ford telling us to change it way latter smells like truble up ahead. Sorry...I guess Im just ranting. Being a previous Ford Taurus owner and all. Thougt maybe this trans was better since ford didn't make it!
