  1. thanks for the great info. door stuck is also my guess. things are moving in each position which leads me to believe the actuator is probably working. I have a friend that works full time as a ford tech and does his own thing on the weekends. I think I'll leave the dash removal to him. he can do it quickly and it might be winter before I have the time to tackle a job like that. Thanks for the advice on the temp sensor. The parts guy informed me that they sell a lot of those and I know they are prone to fail. I was hoping for an easy fix, but it doesnt look like that will be the case. Thanks again for the help! Mark
  2. I've got a strange problem with the switching of the air distribution on my 2006 Fusion. If I vent to the defroster, everything works fine like it should. If I vent to the floor, everything is fine. If I vent to the dash vents, air blows at the floor. The sound of the air blowing changes and a little bit comes out the vents, but the majority is blowing at the floor. I have never torn this apart and cant find any diagrams to show how the doors and actuators work. Is anyone familiar enough with this system to give me some idea what the repair might entail? Thanks. oh..by the way 185k miles on this car and this is my first problem other than a vacuum line that broke.
  3. Hello I have been reading this forum for a few years and it has been very helpful. This is my first post. Here's the story: My 06 Fusion 2.3L has 164k miles on it. I drive it daily 100-200 miles. Until yesterday, this car has been 100% for me. Only replaced an air pump switch in all the time I've owned it. Yesterday it started shifting real hard. Only noticeable in non-hiway driving. the condition would usually stop when I stopped the card and key off. eventually the condition would return. sometimes 20 miles later. it seems that something is putting the trans into a mode that raises the line pressures. today I pulled into traffic and the shift problem started again AND it turned on the check engine light. I stopped at a shop up the road and had the codes read. I did not write down the code number but it was a lean condition in the left bank. NO trans codes. this was the only code. we looked it up and it seems that a pcv valve leak is common on this car. The PCV is under the intake. I called a trans guru friend and he said a fuel code could absolutely throw the tranny into that mode. he told me to look at any common sensors to the engine and trans computers. Unfortunately, with my limited knowledge of how this part of the car works, I have no idea where to start. MAF? O2 sensor? TPS? those were 3 things recommended. I've also heard Trans Range Sensor. Has anyone experienced this problem? Any recommendations on where to start. I did inspect the 2 vac hoses coming out of the front of the intake and they look fine. Any help is much appreciated. Mark
