  1. For winter driving here in Canada clearance counts at least as much as "tire make, model, tread type, tread depth/tire age, rubber composition" combined. A vehicle w/o enough clearance underneath soon goes nowhere; at best responds erratically to steering input. Which is why there's vehicles in the ditch EVERY first snow of the season.
  2. Thanks for comment. Am well aware of the math. Once had an '89 Civic; OEM tire was 175/70R13, no end of difficulty in snow. Went to a 175/80R13, world of difference in winter & dare I say, smoother in summer too.
  3. Have a 2008 Fusion SE V6. Current installed tire is OEM spec 205/60R16. Looking for more winter driving clearance. Looking at 205/70R16s. Anyone see any issues?
  4. No low beam on passenger side until hi beam is engaged. And high doesn't work at all. Drivers side low works on both high & low as expected. What's up w/ passenger low only working on high beam? Is low beam accessible fr wheel well?
  5. 2008 Fusion SE, V6. Battery goes dead after only a few days. Battery has been replaced & tests excellent after being recharged. Disconnecting neg post & putting a test light 'tween it & ground cable shows SIGNIFICANT current draw. Where do I start looking? Are ALL the underhood fuses/relays live at all times? Thanks in advance.
  6. You saying it matters what RS will be installed??? This will be my 10th+ install; NEVER heard that before, all seem to use a purple wire to signal starter engagement. Question was WHERE does the purple wire go to on an '08 Fusion SE 3.0 V6. Thank you.
  7. Where should the purple (starter engage) wire hook to on our '08 Fusion SE 3.0 V6?
  8. A 15in will fit. We just got an '08 Fusion SEL. Because I already have a set of 215/70R15 winter tires I removed one of the 225/50R17s & tried an 80s Grand Marquis 15in wheel I had. It fits; the brakes clear but not by much. Is there some other issue here related to brakes I'm missing? In this instance killer problem is the offset; Marquis wheel WAY wrong for a Fusion. So....... where does one find a 15in wheel w/ correct offset for a Fusion? FYI; a 215/70R15 diameter is almost identical to a 225/50R17. And I get the added benefit of a narrower tire in snow.
  9. Just got our 2008 Fusion SEL; too soon be winter here. Already have 4) 215/70 excellent winter tires fr previous car; unfortunately they're 15in. Fortunately a 15in wheel fr a Grand Marquis fits & clears the brakes. Unfortunately the offset is WAY wrong for a Fusion. So........ does anyone know of a 15in wheel w/ correct offset (high) to fit a Ford Fusion? I don't want to buy yet another set of winters! Thanks.
