  1. Yeah I figured I could have done it myself and saved about $300. Can you believe $35 in shop fees. What is that paper towels. lol. I know when the dealer called he said the min charge is the diagnostic scan for $130. That charge is the biggest scam going. I recall about 10 years ago a friend of mine took his van in and when it was repaired he reviewed the invoice before paying. There were 2 diagnostic charges. He said what was the second one for. They said they had to make sure they fixed the problem. He argued it and they cancelled the second diagnostic. I bet 80% to 90% don't even question the second charge.
  2. Here is the verdict. Took it to a dealer as my wife was afraid to drive it and we are heading on a minor road trip this weekend so time was an issue. Would have done it myself for probably less than $50. It was the Wheel Speed Sensor (driver side rear). Labor - $240, Part - $66, misc. - $36 (for what), taxes $44.45. Total = $387. I am from Canada so it may be less to fix in the US. I attached the Dealer invoice for reference.
  3. I just started getting the problem again. Was gone for the winter now it is back. Where can I visually see the wheel sensors? Does anyone know.
  4. Amber, the problem went away this winter so I have not taken any action todate. I suspect it is what akirby and big jim said - wheel speed sensor failure condition - wet roads.
  5. The thing is I do have a OBD reader but when the lights were on I couldn't get a reading, in other words, reading said "No DTC's detected on car computer". This added to my confusion.
  6. Ok. That makes sense. Looking online this seems like a reasonable fix. Any ideas on price? I know the ABS module fix is very expensive if it was that. Also, the noise when the traction light was on seemed to be coming from the passenger front. I am assuming that each wheel has a speed sensor. Is this accurate? If so I would only need to replace one sensor. Thanks again.
  7. The lights are off now. Strange as it was on when the roads were wet and now the roads are dry -14C/10F.
  8. Thanks Kirby. That sounds reasonable. The ABS Module is a pretty expensive fix. This one sounds less expensive. I just want to be educated before I talk to the dealer.
  9. Not sure what a wheel speed sensor is? Seems to be something with the ABS and Traction control not engaging so it lasts about 10 seconds then goes to the Service Advance Trac message then it drives fine but the ABS and Traction lights and message remain on the instrument panel.
  10. 2010 AWD Sport - I start the car and the ABS light stays on. I can reverse with no problems. Engage in Drive and at low speed and about the first 200 ft the Traction Light blinks then stays on then I hear an intermittent grinding noise then the Service AdvanceTrac Warning appears and stays on then drives fine until I start the vehicle again then the whole process starts all over again. Just started this morning. Again all of this happens at low speed 20 KM and within the first 200 feet. No snow yet but the streets are wet. Here is a picture of the messages.
  11. Hi Bill Where is this relative to the fuses. On my back looking up the fuses are to the left of the steering column. Thanks Steve
