  1. Tybrown, I have looked for the same thing and the only thing I have found so far was the steeda kit. They have a kit that u install a bracked and bushings and it shortens the throw a little bit. I bought the kit and installed it and I like the feel of it but it is not really a short shifter. I have heard of people swapping mazda short shifters with the factory ford, but I havent found any reliable resources to confirm that. Hope that helps! Jeff
  2. Hey! It's been awhile since I have been on here so how is everybody doing? I recently got some finicial issues straightened out so I can officially start building my stereo. I have ordered everything I need and will be starting on the install as soon as I can come up with a idea. Below is a list of equipment I will be using: Alpine In-Dash DVD IVA-W505/P1 Focal Polyglass 3-way Front Speakers with upgraded mid (4in to 5.25in) Focal Polyglass 5x7 Rear Speakers Kicker 30 Band EQ (2) Infinity Kappa Perfect 12 Infinity Kappa One 800Watt Mono Infinity Kappa Four 125x4 I already have the DVD Player installed and I will post pics as soon I as I get some taken. If you have any suggestions that can help please let me know. I am building custom kick panels for the fronts, but my major hanging point is how to use the trunk. I want a clean install but not one that everybody has seen before. I dont have a problem using the whole trunk so if you have any good ideas please let me know! I will keep you all posted! Jeff
  3. I dont remember exactly where it cuts off at I think its somewhere around the 110-115 range. I might find out this morning when I get off work....if I do I will let you know!!!
  4. I plan on getting 18" rims and tires after the winter. I don't plan on speeding like that all the time but there are times I would just like to open her up!
  5. I read the post about the speed limiter could be removed by a programmer, is this true? If it is are all the programmers availiable through steeda able to do the job?
  6. Any Infinity speaker would be a good fit the Kappa's would better and Polk audio has a good line of speakers too. As far as changing the head unit there is an adapter that will allow you to use your sync with aftermarket head units. Another recommendation for speakers is Boston Acoustics. I heard a Boston vehicle built with all Boston speakers and it just so happened the guy was a huge jazz fan and his car sounded awesome. There are also ways to make great speakers sound better. One of course is running them off an amp, but you can also use some sound deadening in the door to take away distortion frequency thats you can sometimes hear. Most of the time you wont hear them until you get rid of them and then you hear how clear sound it sounds with dead metal for the frequencies to bounce off of.
  7. Greg, I agree with QuoVadis 69 the type of music makes a difference in picking the right speaker. Also something to consider are you just wanting to replace the front speakers or all speakers. If you are using the car with only people in the front most of the time you can do away with the back speakers cause they will make no specific impact. Changing the head unit will help because after market HU's have better amplifiers in them. Running an amp to push the front speakers will make them sound even better. As for adding a sub it all comes down to taste of music. Most of the people that you can hear the bass coming from blocks away just want to hear bass. You can add something like a 10" sub and a small amp and get that low end kick, deeper bass, and depth and clarity to the low end. It really comes down to how much you want to spend to get the best possible sounding music. This can easily be down on a budget if you purchase the right equipment.
  8. I was considering lowering my fusion, but what I am concerned with it the affect the lowering springs will have on the factory suspension. Does the factory suspension have enough adjustment in to correct possible camber problems created by lowering springs? I saw where there are camber adjustment kits available for the front but what happens to the back? If anybody has lowered their fusion and could help me answer these questions I would greatly appreciate it!!!! Jeff
  9. I looked at them on tirerack but I cant decide if that is what I want or not. I would feel more comfortable if I can see them in person. If I had the money I would put a set of BBS rims on it, but unfortunately not all of us are blessed with that kinda of money. One good thing about these wheels is I can get them at a really good price. Thanks for the input!!!!
  10. I am looking at getting 18" wheels for my Fusion, I saw these wheels so I thought I would put them out there and see what you all thought. I can't decide if they would look good or not. My Fusion is vapor silver, unfortunately there is no shops around here that have these rims so I can see what they really look like next to the car. Give me your opinion and be honest please?
  11. I have seen a 2009 at the dealership and from an exterior view I didnt see any changes. The color I saw was the new tuxedo black and it looked awesome. I didnt get a chance to look at the interior so I cant tell you what the changes are.
  12. For all of you that would like to install an aftermarket headunit, but don't want to lose the ability to use SYNC, Metra has an answer. Metra has just released an adapter that can be used to adapt SYNC to your aftermarket HU. I don't know the part number and I don't know if this adapter will work. I am adding a Kenwood DVD player with Nav eventually, but I don't have the financial means to do so yet. If any of you want to try this adapter your local stereo shop should be able to order that part for you. Let us know if it works..... or I will let you know as soon as I can afford my DVD player.
  13. I finally got my HID'S installed and it is relatively easy install except for the confined space to work in on the passenger side. The first go at it the lights worked with the lock and unlock button but would not work with the light switch. After calling tech support to have them tell me what I already knew was the problem they sent me a resistor pack for a remedy. Where the HID'S only use 35 watts the computer was closing the circuit, but once I installed the resistor pack and made it actually pull 55 watts I haven't experienced any other problems. I have only been using them for 3 days now so I will keep you posted if I have any problems.
  14. I have just ordered a HID conversion kit and will be installing it next week I will take pics and let you know how the install went. Hopefully everything will go smoothly!!!!
  15. Does anybody know where I can find clear side markers for my 2008 Fusion SE?
