  1. Glad to see you got things straightened out. Thanks for updating us.
  2. I vote for the silver wheels I think they look better with the white car.
  3. Doesn't the 2019 model have a place to insert your key in the trunk lid?
  4. I took my car in this morning for the driver's air bag recall. I mentioned this problem to the service advisor, and he told me they had a guy who is a real expert on the nine-year-old Sync systems. He was able to clear out all traces of the phone directory from the original phone, and then he successfully downloaded the directory from phone #2. This appeared to correct the problem. All my contacts seem to be stored properly. As to which Sync version I have, all I can remember from my last update is that it is version 2.something. I'm pretty sure they haven't released any updates for the last few years. I know there is a sequence of keys you can press to get the version number displayed on the screen, but I don't remember what it is. Anyway, for now at least, I seem to have full functionality between my phone and my car, so it's all good for the time being. I'll keep you posted if anything changes.
  5. I hope this is not a duplicate post--I did a search for "cannot download phone directory" and came up with nothing. I got a different phone and wanted to pair it with my car's Sync system. (2012 Fusion SEL with basic Sync functions.) I followed the steps in the owner's manual, and everything seemed to go as the manual said it should. However, when I tried to make a call to a number in my directory, I got a message saying "no entries." I tried again with the same results. I then followed the manual's steps for downloading a directory and got "downloading directory" and "download complete." I thought that would take care of the problem, but when I tried to make a call I got the "no entries" message on the screen. I tried three or four more times to download the directory with the same results. The phone seems to be paired OK. I get the little Bluetooth symbol on the screen, and I can use make calls by saying "dial xxx-xxx-xxxx." However, if I say "call xyz" I get an audio message saying no numbers in the directory. I tried calling Ford's sync customer help line but I can't get through. I get either a busy signal or else the three-tone chimes followed by "your call did not go through. Please try again." Is there a chance that the help line is no longer in existence, considering that the car is now 9 years old? Does anyone have any suggestions? I thought that maybe I would first have to delete the phone directory from the old phone, but I don't want to do that because I might want to re-pair the older phone in the near future. Thanks in advance for any suggestions anyone might offer.
  6. I checked with my dealer yesterday. They have no parts in, so I had him take my information and put me on the waiting list. He didn't know if the wait time was days, weeks or months. I asked about a rental/loaner but he said that as of now they have received no guidance from Ford about rentals. He seemed to be of the opinion that there was really nothing wrong with the driver's side airbag initiator, and that Ford just decided to change them because they were made by the same company (Takata?) that made the passenger's side initiators. That doesn't sound very realistic to me. I don't think Ford would go to that great of an expense to fix something that isn't broken. The service manager also told me that the driver's side fix should only take about an hour to accomplish. So, for now I'm just biding my time waiting for the parts to arrive. I'll keep everyone posted.
  7. Just checked my 2012 SEL. The only switches that are illuminated are the four window up/down switches. The mirror adjustment switch and the window lock button are not. I'm pretty sure that should extend across all the models, and if I'm right, then yours appear to be the same as mine and are working properly.
  8. Many people (myself included) don't like to use the terms "left" and "right" when referring to things under the hood. It can get confusing. Remember, when you're looking at the engine from in front of the car, what's on your left is on the car's right. It might be less confusing if you use the terms "driver's side" and "passenger's side" or even "port" and "starboard" (if you're a navy type!) Generally, he number 1 cylinder is usually the one on the same end of the engine as the alternator, water pump and A/C compressor. The number 4 cylinder is usually on the same end of the engine as the flywheel. Hope this helps, and good luck.
  9. When I log on to this site, I click on "my activity streams" and then "unread content." This takes me to a list of messages that I have not yet read. These messages are shown in bold print on this list. I can click on the individual messages and read them, and when I come back to the main list, the ones I have just read are now grey instead of the bold black. This works with my Windows PC using either Firefox, Edge or Internet Explorer as my browser. I borrowed my daughter's Mac the other day to try and see if I liked the way that Apple does things. Using the built in Safari browser, I logged on and went to the "unread content" portion. Here, every message was shown in bold black format. After reading a message, when I went back to the list of unread content, everything was still shown in bold black. There was no way I could see to get it to change to grey after I read it. Is this a problem (feature?) of the Safari browser, or is there a way I can change things on the site to get Safari to act more like Firefox?
  10. I just checked my car, and the TCS OFF switch is illiuminated when the lights are on. It dims and brightens with the other instrument panel lights and indicators.
  11. Are you still on your original12 volt battery? If so, that could be the source of your random electrical gremlins. Many times, seemingly unrelated warnings like that are the first indication that your battery is on its last legs. Have your battery tested by a shop that has the newest test equipment and see what test results you get. If your battery is the original one, it's really living on borrowed time at six years old and needs to be replaced.
  12. Does your dealer have another Energi on the lot that you could drive and make a comparison? Dealers like to give out the old "they all do it" excuse, and sometimes that might be correct.
  13. I had a similar situation with a different car (not a Fusion.) Down around a quarter tank or so it wouldn't want to idle smoothly, and the acceleration was really slow. It turned out to be a weak fuel pump. My theory is that the weight of a full tank of gas gave a little boost to the fuel pump. As the fuel burned and the level in the tank started dropping, there wasn't as much fuel there to help the weakened fuel pump do its thing. I discovered this by checking the pressure in the fuel rail. With all the modern electronics on your car, though, I would think that there was some kind of notification in your instrument cluster or a CEL light coming on that should notify you of a fuel pressure problem. Again, I'm just guessing here. I'm not familiar with all the information that is available when the various warning lights or messages are displayed. You might get some kind of a message telling you if your fuel pressure is too low. Keep us advised of what you discover, and good luck.
