I just joined, and I find this entire thread hilarious, sad, and frustrating at the same time.
My two cents: You buy or lease a 40k car. It is reasonable to expect intuitive controls and systems that work relatively normal as people would experience with most cars.
I have a 2014 ford fusion energi. The AC is on whether the AC button is illuminated or not. That's a screw-up, and there is no defending that. AC should work as expected to keep customers happy, because that is what it's supposed to be about.... keeping customers happy.
I live in an area where the outside air temp is decent, and low humidity. I'd like just outside air to circulate, vs rolling down a window. Unfortunately, if the climate control is on at all, I get AC. Add to this that no matter what setting I set the temp, if it's set under 72, I get the same blast of cold air, same temp. If I set to 73, I get warm air that feels heated. There has to be 20 degrees between 72 and 73. It's so inaccurate, it's ridiculous. In 2014, they can't design climate control that works reliably? My old 2004 Toyota Sequoia, with only one big stupid knob is more accurate and does a better job.
HUGE mistake by Ford working with Microsoft on the user interface/OS as well. Every time I turn on my radio (I normally use bluetooth to my cell) it defaults to Stereo instead of surround, and won't keep the setting. MICROSOFT. When I turn off my Bluetooth, it defaults to radio and blasts radio static MICROSOFT. I've turned off autoplay, yet when I get in the car in the morning, it links to my cell, and autoplays my itunes MICROSOFT. If my BT is not on, and I turn on the system, it defaults to radio every time, and blast static.. MICROSOFT. Microsoft has not made a good product since Office XP. Their new CEO just publically stated that "they can't win in tablets and phones, so maybe they should just stop and focus on what they do best". I suppose that applies to automotive as well. They don't know what they are doing.
So, I have an AC that does not do a good job at climate control, and won't turn off AC to allow outside air with fan on, and a radio that loses it's mind and can't retain settings, or restart where it left off.
I leased, thank god, so I can get a decent car next round. I can appreciate the gas mileage, EV performance, and styling. Where Ford totally BLEW IT was with Microsoft based controls, and trying to reach too far with new technology. They used consumers as a test bed, and they failed.
