  1. Oh man, good find! It does seem more likely that there is a problem with the mirror itself, after watching that. And thanks for the heads up on the opener. The opener is ~ 8 years old, so I think I'm probably ok!
  2. Sorry I should've clarified before, I have a Chamberlain Garage Door Opener (Purple Learn Button/Antenna). I just don't understand how everything else with the mirror could be functioning correctly if the wiring was screwed up - it's a pretty basic circuit.
  3. Jimminy Crickets, if this thread is any indication, it seems as if I might have a wiring issue with the mirror: (It appears that this website does not work correctly with IE11 or Microsoft Edge, so I apologize if the link below doesn't appear properly) http://mechanics.stackexchange.com/questions/4171/why-doesnt-homelink-plus-programming-work-as-described-in-the-manual
  4. Thanks for the tips. In my case, the problem is not that a light never comes on, but rather that it never goes off. There is a green LED where I think the red is supposed to flash, but it stays on all the time - when I push the HomeLink buttons nothing happens. Everything else works perfectly with the mirror, plus, you know, green is usually good. Could this really be a problem with the mirror, or am I simply not understanding how to program it correctly?
  5. Yes, this is exactly what my mirror looks like. Instead of the red light shown in that video, however, mine has a green light that stays on all the time. Does anyone know what this means? I always took the green to be a good thing, but I wonder if this means that the HomeLink feature is defective...
  6. Sorry if this post belongs in "accessories & modifications", but since this is an OEM Ford part issue, I thought I would try this here. Several months back, I installed the Ford-branded auto dimming rearview mirror with compass/temp/Homelink in my 2012 Ford Fusion SE. Everything has worked perfectly with the auto dimming and the temp/compass displays. I recently moved to a place with an actual garage, and I thought I would try out the Homelink function. Unfortunately, I cannot get the programming to work. The Homelink website says that I should first hold down the two outer programming buttons until the LED starts to flash. This is where I get held up. Are they talking about the green light at the bottom of the mirror that indicates that the mirror is "turned on"? Or is there some separate LED that is supposed to light up? In either case, nothing happens when I hold those buttons down for 30+ seconds at a time. Does anyone have any experience with the mirror programming that would be able to lend some insight into this?
  7. Very good point. So, then in your professional opinion, is it logical to conclude that whatever casting processes were improved for the driver's side axle (as a result of the TSB) would also carry over to the passenger side? I guess that's really the crux of the issue - am I going to simply be chasing one badly-finished axle shaft with another?
  8. No, unfortunately I'll have to farm this one out - I'm trying to defend my dissertation, graduate, and move across the country for a job in the next 2 months, so I don't think I'll have time for this on my own! I can't seem to find a part number for the intermediate shaft, so if anyone could help me out with that I would appreciate it. You're right, it may just be cheap insurance. In all honesty, I'm not really sure what I'm looking for in terms of advice - I guess I was wondering if it would be logical to think that the axle shaft finish on that side was problematic as well, just because it was on the driver's side. It seems awfully coincidental. But, if Ford didn't make any changes to the axle shaft design/finish on that side, then it's probably not worth replacing it. Hmm...
  9. With all due respect, this is not necessarily true, and I would appreciate the benefit of the doubt that I have already tried this. I already found that single post, and it wasn't helpful - there was no resolution, or indication as to whether this was a design flaw like the LH side. I have tried searching within this forum, and also through Google/Bing by restricting the search domain to this site.
  10. Has anyone had any experience with the passenger side axle seal leaking on the 6F35 transmissions? I was changing my oil this morning, and I spotted a film of trans fluid where the intermediate shaft goes into the transaxle. I'm well aware of the driver side leak (had the TSB done last year), but I haven't heard of anything with the passenger side. Does anyone know if there was a TSB to address this, or am I just unlucky? My main concern is that the cause of the RH leak could be the same as the LH leak (poor finish on the axle stub). If that's the case, I think I would want to order a new intermediate shaft, in addition to the oil seal, in order to avoid a repeat. My vehicle is a 2012 Fusion SE 2.5L Full disclosure: this topic is also posted at Ford Fusion Club (fordfusionclub.com/203-engine-amp%3B-drivetrain/694025-passenger-side-6f35-axle-seal-leaking.html) ***Yes, I have tried "Searching", so please don't suggest it***
