The 3 vehicles i used to run K&N filters on, all got better gas mileage. Factory airboxes are made with a few major things in mind, cost, assembly time and NVH. I don't see doing maintenance as "more trouble than it's worth". I change my transmission fluid every year, i would never figure it is "more trouble than it's worth". On the other hand, a friend at work who put a K&N on his truck claimed he got worse mileage, he is a lead foot though.

88 octane is garbage. It's more octane but has less btu's so you are gonna burn more. I wouldn't run that crap even in my lawnmower.

How many miles? Do you know the maintenance history? What shape is the oil in it now? It may just be worn a bit or maybe the valve seals?

2.5l are known to have valve problems, after high mileage and neglect. I'm on my third vehicle with that motor and haven't had any problems, though i tend to sell at 85k-100k when the rust is starting.

That's how the plugs look in a Ecoboost 1.5l. Change them. Mine were very similar at 65,000 miles. If it's not burning a lot of oil, like a subaru/dodge/jeep, Don't worry about it.

So how do you unlock the doors later if there is a power door lock malfunction? Seems like a solution looking for a problem.

Our 2016, not one single problem. Battery died after 5 years but that is to be expected. I think i did rear brakes. No problems with our other vehicle with the ecoboost, 69,000 miles no problems. Sound like you need a real mechanic who knows cars and how to work on them. There is also a thing called preventative maintenance.

Nothing to do with how the car is driven? Certainly can be if the snot was beat out of it. But chances are it is hit or miss as some of these engines do not have a problem, others do. 2017 with 19K was probably owned by a old man so was probably not beat on and just a bad engine since new.

What do you mean old fashioned battery meter test? A regular meter? That will tell you voltage. A load tester puts a load on the battery and while it does that you read the meter, nothing old fashioned or new about it. My 25 year old load tester will test my new battery. When you are replying to these people with battery problems, tell them it needs to be load tested, simple. Or do you work at a dealer or repair shop trying to drum up money?
Maybe you should write up a article on how to clean your battery terminals on a regular basis and you won't have 95% of these problems.

A old load tester with meter will work just fine. Where did you come up with this?

Full coverage? What is your deductible? You can't compare unless you know ALL the coverages in dollar amounts. Full tort? We have 4 cars, 2 full coverage, 2 drivers and my total is about $1600/year.

Which motor? I wouldn't hesitate to use regular oil, if you can find it, in the 2.5l. Just change it every 3000-5000 miles. You can use 5-30, 10-30, the 5w20 is for better gas mileage, which i doubt you can even measure. Synthetic is a marketing term, judges ruled the term did not have to mean truly synthetic. Look it up, Mobil1 is not truly synthetic, the European version is though, because their laws say it has to be.

Just had new struts put on my 2012 s 6 speed. Both sides the springs were broke, it's common on Fusions. My front now rides exactly the same as the rear, same gap between tires and fenders. Sounds like they are the wrong struts. I bought KYB's from Rockauto. $280/pair. You can get cheap stuff from Amazon as low as $99/pair, which i would never buy. You may have got 6cyl struts which may have heavier coils for the additional weight. And no, coils will not settle, don't know where people come up with these stories.

You are talking useless. How many 71 or earlier cars do you actually see driving everyday on the road, i bet none. Maybe a holiday or a nice weather weekend. I doubt any 2.0 is even in the 14's. Stock 1970 chevelle ss 454 only did 13.8, and that was a fast car, my stock Mustang was tested at 13.9, any 2.0 won't come close to those numbers.

Maybe 1 or 2 not many though. Show us the info you found. Quarter mile times? 15 or 16 seconds is slow compared to a car which is in the 13's. If you believe any of those HP ratings they give today, or EPA ratings, i have a bridge to sell you.

Ranger rear wheel drive, Fusion, front wheel drive. They made millions of Rangers, you should be able to swap in a factory installed motor.

Probably a axle shaft seal, other models of Fords are known for this. That being said, there is a way to add fluid, there is a breather where you add fluid if doing a trans fluid change.
