  1. diannenj you experience the same weather we do & I find it too coincidental that we both had problems with our cars the same time of year, mine being spring time yours being fall. Definitely talk to your mechanic about water in the hose & pump. I don't know what NJ emissions rules are but my car has a secondary air flow system that is a California emissions rule, that doesn't apply to MN but when I asked my mechanic if I could just have it removed, his response was no. He explained that it could be removed & that it wouldn't make a difference law wise here but it could cause problems in the computer & set off error codes that could set a series of things to go wrong. Back before cars ran on computers this wouldn't have been an issue. Good luck to you, I'm hoping to get rid of this lemon car before it breaks again.
  2. diannej where do you live? I'm in MN & was told spring & fall weather here makes water build up in the pump
  3. Mexico huh? I was told by Ford that it was manufactured in CA with CA emissions in mind. Mexico sounds about right for this POS car!
  4. That's great Becky, unfortunately for me my car doesn't fall into that extended warranty as it's a 2007. I never did update again after the throttle body replacement. I had both the throttle body & thermostat replaced just to have the car bog down again 3 weeks later. Found out that my car was manufactured in California & they have different emmisions standards & I had a bad secondary air flow pump & it was full of water. Replaced it & drove the car for a year before having to replace the damn thermostat again. In the mean time I also had the speed sensor go bad & that was replaced as well. This car has been a lemon since I bought it.
  5. Well oddly I never got a throttle body code but the mechanic did. It was a sensor & the throttle body needed to be replaced & the firmware needed updating. I also had my thermostat replaced & low & behold I have great heat! The air pump relay looks like it needs to be replaced but it's not causing any issues as of now so I'm not going to bother with it. My mechanic said midwestern cars don't even have air pumps usually.
  6. Thank you for your reply, I will have my mechanic check the air pump & relay on Monday, I just don't have a lot of money to let them examine my car for days or another car to get to work so I'm trying to diagnose the best I can on my own & even fix on my own what I can. I can swap out the throttle body myself but don't want to do that if that's not my problem.
  7. I'm in MN & spring has sprung. The thing though, is that those codes are with the check engine light & that's not what is causing my problem. The wrench light goes on & I can feel the car lose power. It doesn't shake or die like others have said with their throttle bodies, just bogs down some & I can feel it. Say I'm cruising down the highway at 60 mph & the wrench light goes on I feel a bog down then if I have to slow to say 50 mph, it's hard for the car to get back up to 60 mph. When I come to a complete stop the car grumbles & idles so low that it feels like it's gonna die. The throttle doesn't seem stuck to me though. When I plug in the code reader should I have my car running with the wrench light on? O'reily had my car off with the ignition in the on position & that's how I got the two codes that I got.
  8. I have a 2007 Fusion SE with 130,000 miles. I've had the car a year & a half now & the check engine light has always been on. 1 yr ago the wrench light came on & I had a couple rough starts. One morning the car started so rough it was almost backfiring & the wrench light came on. I re-started & it was off. I googled & found all the throttle body problems & decided to take my chances & clean mine, to my surprise it worked until 2 days ago. Now fast forward a year & here I am. So far it hasn't stalled but the light comes on while I'm driving & power seems to get a little weak & when I come to a stop it hesitates some so I did another cleaning but it didn't seem to work this time around. I went to O'reily's yesterday & had the code reader scan for codes & got codes P0491 & P0128 neither of which are throttle body codes. Now what? Anybody have any advice on this?
