eGuru replied to Rebel Racing's topic in A.C. & Heating

2009 Fusion HVAC Turned Off During Remote Start
eGuru replied to Rebel Racing's topic in A.C. & Heating
Probably the remote starter's HVAC driver/relay is defective. Typically it is the orange wire coming out of the RS. -
Front doors don’t lock the with key FOB
eGuru replied to Spikyhairjon's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
Agree, seems logical that both actuators are bad. Perhaps start by replacing only the driver's door before buying the passenger side actuator. -

ok - just to be clear. The fob will lock the rear doors but not the front. The interior lock button does not lock the front doors. Does it lock the rear doors? -

So the rear doors lock with the key fob? -
Have you tried to disconnect the battery for 10 minutes?

2015 Fusion Remote Start Range Extension
eGuru replied to Mason32800's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
Unfortunately the manual doesn't discuss remote start and following bangster's analysis it seems logical that, in the OP's case, the remote start is via the RTM module in the headliner. However, logic and actual are different things and since we haven't solved the OP's problem, a trip to the dealership may still be the best first step. -
2015 Fusion Remote Start Range Extension
eGuru replied to Mason32800's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
IDK where the antenna for your remote start system is located. Since it is of very limited range, I suspect it is using the same antenna that is used by the fob for the remote lock/unlock functions. If that is the case, the antenna is integrated into the BCM. Unless someone else (maybe bangster) on the forum actually knows about this system, your best bet may be to check with your dealer. -
2015 Fusion Remote Start Range Extension
eGuru replied to Mason32800's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
I think you need to define how much range extension you are looking for. If it is only another 50M, then perhaps an improved antenna or different placement might work. If you are looking for hundreds of meters of additional range, then you would need to replace the existing system (and fob). I believe your RS has a range of about 100M. -
The gas strut kits are available from Steeda and Redline Tuning or you could make your own (like I did). See my posts in this thread: For the mirrors, I was considering modifying them myself by cutting a slot and inserting an acrylic window and LEDs.

2009 Trunk Strut Question
eGuru replied to Rebel Racing's topic in Maintenance, Recalls and TSB (Technical Service Bulletins)
I have a project on the go to modify the trunk hinges and gas strut so that the lid will open fully when the trunk release is actuated. The mechanical mod complements an electronics upgrade of the trunk release to allow you to release the trunk lock by "kicking" your foot under the bumper (same as many modern SUV's). I am still waiting for some of the mechanical parts so I am not ready to post pictures yet - besides it is currently too cold here in the frozen north to work outside on this stuff. -
I am surprised that your choice of a new headunit isn't one with a large LCD touchscreen so that you can have convenient navigation map display, etc.

2011 Ford Fusion Remote Module Location
eGuru replied to ForHerRide's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
The antenna for the RKE receiver is internal to the Smart Junction Box (SJB). Can you describe the issue being experienced with your RKE fob(s)? -
Agree. Underglow lighting is thankfully illegal pretty much everywhere. It is pretty tacky. Clear sidemarkers are also illegal. They must be amber. I wouldn't bother with the strut tower brace unless it is only looks you are after. The Fusion is already very ridged and the brace won't provide any additional benefit. Put the money saved on the CAI, strut brace, and sidemarkers into a modern headunit with Nav and Android Auto.

Post pictures as you progress. Would be interesting to see what you come up with for side mirrors with directional lights. I have searched periodically with no success. One thing that you didn't mention was adding gas struts for the hood - the OEM prop stick doesn't add any wow factor.

What year is the vehicle and are there any associated error messages?
-
If you have bad roads in your area I suggest avoiding installation of 20" wheels as the reduced (almost no-existent) sidewall height will make the ride totally bone rattling. Plus the wheels get damaged very easily by potholes and curbs. I would avoid spending money on a CAI as it doesn't produce any increase in performance.

Looks good. This is the colour mix that I am using with my home made cup holder light ring Routed out a ring from a piece of acrylic sheet. .

Trace the wire for the aftermarket siren back to its source - which is likely located taped or ty-wrapped to a wiring harness somewhere above the brake pedal. See if you can find any labels that identify the model number. Maybe that information will help. You may as well disconnect the aftermarket siren since the system isn't functional anyway.

Eric, is the battery more than 3 years old? If so, replace it before doing any more troubleshooting.

The rearview camera feeds into the APIM you replaced so check for contact/seating issues at the APIM and also the camera connector.
