  1. and you don't get analog signals anymore? Wow and 3 whole weeks!!!!
  2. It is amazing how big of a deal this has become... I see this on a lot of other forums If the modem was defective, and your vehicle was under a warranty that covered that, then it would be replaced. BUT , it is NOT defective, but rather no longer has a 3G signal to use as ATT has shut that down. So not the fault of Ford/Lincoln I have seen many say they got a new phone when the upgrade happens, I say GREAT .... but Ford/Lincoln decided not to do that. They did say for some vehicles they would cover the cost of labor (which tends to cost more) I'm surprised that no one has attempted getting a 4G modem from a wreck.... I'm assuming there is more to it than just a swap.
  3. True.. if they knew a 3g modem was not what they wanted in the more recent vehicles they should not have done it... but they did. Features that you expect to be there are not or will not be soon. As has been said, maybe a class action suit is needed... but I know it has to be worded very well. I've been part of a few, and what you get in the end is not what you expected. Apple was part of one (or many) and I think I got 2 bucks from them (or could have if I went forward) most people don't bother because it is YEAR later when a desision is made. I was part of one for Epson, almost 10 year later it was resolved and they offered an ink cart for something I did not have anymore. THat being said, if a Class Action Suit is started, it might be years before a decision is made, and you might not even have that vehicle anymore. Nor will you care of they will replace a 3G modem when 8G is out. ?
  4. ATT knew it as well... just like they know that 4G will go away and 5G will take over.... they all know... I'm sure they hope that you will just purchase something in line with what you want. Ford/Lincoln probably figured it would be cheaper in the long run to just put the devices in , and when that service goes away just deal with it at the time... in this case from what I've read, they are not going to spend as much money as they did in the past. There was a service that Amazon provided that if I wanted to , they would deliver the box to my car. No extra cost. Never did use it (sorta like when they will put it in your garage). When they decided not to offer that service anymore, Amazon gave me a garage door opener for free. Even though I never used the service, it was a nice gesture on their part. Probably to keep me as a customer. I still have the garage door opener, don't won a garage so I will not use it. Maybe I will sell it. ? Teslas have the feature, why did you not buy one of those ? OH Wait, ATT shutting down the 3G network affects them too...
  5. I can tell you I have nothing to do with Ford or Lincoln in any way. Show me proof that you paid for the service you are referring to? As I understand it , Ford Pass, or Lincoln Way are free additions for you to use without a cost (unlike Toyota) So the modem that is present in most modern vehicles is there if you choose to use it. I'm sure I would be upset when my 4G modem no longer can connect, because ATT decided to terminate the 4G network in favor of 5G (or what ever they will call it), but not Lincoln or Ford, but rather ATT. My Mac that was made back in 2004, still runs (although very slow) and will not connect to my WiFi anymore as it is not supported anymore. But I'm not going to call Apple and tell them they owe me anything for it.... after all progress happends. So get over it!! ?
  6. Companies replace, or discontinue items all the time... does not mean they are obligated to tell you or do anything about it when something has been discontinued. (in this case the 3G modems) There are a LOT of companies that have upgraded the items to the most modern technologies... IF they choose to allow you to keep what you have because it still works is up to them. when wireless went from 802.11 a to b to c to etc.... I did not see you or anyone bitching about that... you just went out and bought what was needed to allow you to keep up.

  8. Just a reminder, Ford / Lincoln , etc... do not owe you anything.... You purchased the vehicle as is... IF they choose to do anything about this, it is on their dime. I'm sure they would rather you just purchase something that is with in your means. and remember, those with the 4G modems, that will get discontinued once 5G becomes the default. etc etc etc...
  9. It is ok if you disagree... maybe Ford/Lincoln new it was coming... but it is still not their fault that ATT (and eventually everyone else) has dropped 3G For those that have 3g modems in a 2019 or later machine, I feel for you. that is just wrong, but then maybe ford put them in to make it cheaper... or had a few left over and dropped them in hard to say. I have the 4g modem, but also have not enable the wifi feature for it... never will I just have to know that in 4 plus years, I will not be able to use 4g... but by then it might not matter.
  10. One of the things that is being missed, is that this is NOT Ford or Lincoln's issue. They are bending over backwards to assist with the swap. ATT and Verizon, and all the Telecoms are dropping 3G. (and some day will drop 4G for 5G when that becomes a standard) The fact that your vehicle uses a 3G modem is not the fault of the manufacturer!!! It is what was available at the time (very surprised that the 2020 vehicles do not have 4G modems) me personally I would say that they should pay for you to get a 4G modem.
  11. As far as I know, there are no wires... it is done with wireless (maybe bluetooth) So going to crutchfield is a good place to start
  12. I would think that most Ford/Lincolns that are 2019 will have the 4G modem.... check your app, or talk to the dealer (as long as they know what they are doing) if you really want to , you could spend much less by getting it from a wrecked vehicle... car-part.com
  13. Sony units are digital, so if you did not hook it up, or get it hooked up to the digital lines, this is why. If it can not, then return it... crutchfield.com can help you with getting the right unit.
  14. One thing that comes to mine, is that the 'Sony' facia is digital, so if you did not buy the digital ACM and or the APIM, then this is why it does not work.
  15. A Pixel 4a is about 5 years old.... glad it is still working... after re reading it, a fuse pull might help.... master reset will get rid of settings, but if the BT is not showing as an option, then the unit that has it (tends to be the APIM) has gone bad.... time to replace
  16. Hmm, bluetooth from 12 years go, and I bet you are trying to get a modern phone to work with it... Lets see it was BT 1-2 then maybe? and your phone is BT 5.. ? As far as Sync, same applies here... it is just OLD technology... like trying to get Windows 11 to work on your 486
  17. What you are asking has been done here... http://www.2gfusions.net/thread-4050.html
  18. If you have the 'Sony' system, I believe it connects via digital connections.... So if you did aftermarket connections, this 'could' be why.
  19. along those lines, you say they never worked... did you take it back to where you purchased it to tell them ? and yes , there might be grills, but no physical speakers behind. so that makes me think that you purchased this 2nd hand (used) and the person before you planned to do the speaker upgrade and abandoned it.
  20. If the screen you took out and replaced, the replacement came out of the same or similar model, it should work. Makes me think that you replaced something else as well?

  22. car-part.com. see if you can a DSP cheeper.... but then if you would have to have the Sony logo, the DSP would be the amp in the trunk (if I remember right)
  23. I think Ford/Lincoln should call it 'settings reset' because Factory Reset makes people think it's taken them back to how it came from the factory
  24. I'm sure it would be nice if Ford/Lincoln would give you an approximation of how long it will take... for those that don't want to idle.... go for a long drive....
