  1. Yea, I see that... I guess when I was last looking they cost that much... I see they can be about 50-130
  2. fee==cost. I see the car cams for about 200-300 dollars .... I wouldn't mind one (lots of crazy drivers in Los Angeles)
  3. Like I said, I did a couple times, but I don't see any reason to now... maybe there is one , but I don't see it. (no pun) unless you can do it to 'record' to get out of paying the fee for a rear or even front camera to record... ?
  4. Why it was set that way in the first place is the puzzle.... it is off by default. As far as wanting to see you driving backwards... some do, I have from time to time.... I think the Kenwood I had could do it on the fly (maybe it was the pioneer)
  5. Makes me wonder what version, who can get it... etc.... ?
  6. Yes, others have had that issue.... try doing a search... it's a known issue with Sync 2
  7. Technically yes you can... but know that you might loose some of the functions of Sync www.crutchfield.com good place to start for 3rd party stuff
  8. here is a link that something like that (if not the same) talks about it http://www.2gfusions.net/showthread.php?tid=3704
  9. This does not 100% apply for your year, but it's a start http://www.2gfusions.net/showthread.php?tid=4050
  10. If you have the $$$, and a lot of patience, it can be done.... Here is a link that might steer you in the right direction. http://www.2gfusions.net/showthread.php?tid=4050
  11. One thing to keep in mind, that your 'new' phone might not be ready to connect to an older car. Bluetooth versions change, and some may not be able to connect . Kinda like an older computer can't connect to the current WiFi, because the new WiFi device might not have the older wifi protocol. Not saying that this is the answer, just something to keep in mind.
  12. Just a stab in the dark, I think he has a 2010 so this is the NSEW you see in the mirror? Could be a fuse, could be a connection, OR, it could be it's 10 years old and failed.... if it's the last one... time to get it looked at and fixed. ? Fuse - maybe not if all you see are dashes... connection, could be a faulty line from the antenna ... also something for a tech to look at.
  13. Older info on this page, but yes it can be done for less ... figure 500-700 depending on how well you find the needed parts.... http://www.2gfusions.net/showthread.php?tid=3881 car-part.com is a good place to start looking for the parts....
  14. as it has been said, diag over the internet is tuff... Take it to the dealer, or to a place that does electrical as well as normal car stuff, have them look for the drain of the battery.... could be a light staying on to a crossed wire...
  15. 4" or 8". (assuming 4" cuz it's an S) who replaced the battery? 3rd party or dealer?
  16. Have you checked fuses? <just a thought> could they be subwoofers? (I kinda doubt it)
  17. a far as not working... are there speakers there... If so, could be a connector, or fuse.... I'm sure someone knows the fuse # to look for...
  18. Don't expect it... it's like telling Microsoft they need to let a modern program work with Win 98, or Win XP, it's just not going to happen. EOL Same with Sync 2, it's End Of Life, Sync 3 is nearing that.. once Sync 4 comes out , I suspect Sync 3 will be EOL in about 2 years after. and BTW, Sync 1 and 2 were a Microsoft program... Not to mention that the hardware is old too... Sorry to tell bad news...
  19. Factory Update... hmm... now there is a set of words, being that the 'factory' does not do updates, because that would imply that Hermosillo (one of them) does the update/upgrade... Maybe better to call them Scheduled Updates/Upgrades ? But it's my opinion.. no doubt you will agree with me by replying to this thread, after all, you said you would 'move on'
  20. You have to remember that they are not there for any possibilities, only what is known to them. I would venture out that they only know what is told them.... read into that 'scripts' I'm not going to get into the details of how some got 3.4.... but will say that Ford must have been "experimenting" with the idea and someone who had access to that knowledge spilled it.... Not all vehicles get the same updates.... and some never do.... I had a 2013 FFH that never got an update while I had it (about 2 years), and as far as I know still has not... but I don't own it anymore so it's hard to say. I had swapped out the needed hardware so I could have Sync 3 (From Sync 2). my personal experience, you might have different results
  21. And yet you decided to lash out and call names.... real grown up of you I have said the word brick many times in my posts, andI always remind others that IF they do it they are own their own.... if I am in error, you are welcome to show me the listings... I don't believe I have EVEN mentioned the other site, only others have. As far as I'm concerned they are playing with fire. But others get burned. For the record, I do NOT condone this (hmm spell checker says it's right but does not look right), all I have said is that I have been successful in the upgrade/update 2 times before to 3.4 , this does not mean others have been as fortunate. APIMs that no longer work at all or properly. as has been asked.... I have stated my case, nuff said.
  22. And yet I was able to update 2 units from 3.0 to 3.4, so it CAN be done.... but it's not factory, nor does Ford/Lincoln condone it.... but because it has been done, to me, that means that they looked into it and were able to do it.... Never say Never.... Bill Gates said that no one would ever need more than 640K for a PC.... Bzzzt https://www.zdnet.com/article/top-10-worst-tech-predictions-of-all-time/#:~:text="No one will need more,to have said in 1981.
  23. Distilled water is not needed anymore... does not hurt, just not needed... That was something from the pre-50s to do. ? (maybe even 60s) The lead cells don't shed as much as they used to...
