  1. If it's not letting you pair anything else (phones) then the BT of the APIM is at fault. Time to replace.
  2. Probably not.... you would need to modify it a LOT to get it to work... best to go 3rd party, like Kenwood, etc....
  3. Hmm.. ok... then you are up to date (as far as I know) Can you pair another phone? or nothing at all? if nothing at all, then it's a bad APIM
  4. The outlets in the armrest, and the USB there too? Loose connector at either end....
  5. I meant, is it Sync 2 3.10 ? Have you tried to unpair it from the other vehicle, then pair it to the new one? Just to make sure it's not seeing the other vehicle and won't allow 2 to be paired. ? Beyond that , yes it could be the APIM that is at fault.
  6. so that we understand... your phone disconnects from Bluetooth? Sync 2, what version? What phone (and version might help too)
  7. Yup, when I did the oil change, I forgot to ask. NExt time if I remember... I do remember that the fans are on all the time, because it's climate control... not just heat or AC. When you ahve a warranty, it's best to take it in and have them look at it.... don't rely on the Internet... like BBF has said, what happens for me , may not be what happens for you.
  8. MIne is at 1-19 I've read that sometimes it takes a few times of starting the car to get it to update. And sometimes it does not at all... it was supposed to be fixed in an OS update (3.0 something)
  9. Yea, a few of us have done it and mentioned that it takes about an hour. I've had to do some updates before that it seemed that it was done, then it starts up again... of course I was using a USB 2 drive, so it took longer... ?
  10. On the topic of Sync 3, it is based on the OS that Blackberry (RIM) uses, it's' not an MS product anymore. More QOS now.... And of course , it depends on what you expected Sync and Sync 2 to deliver? Sync 3 3.0 and 3.4 seems to be about as stable as can be, I'm sure they are just fixing bugs, 3.4 is much better then 3.0 but it has it's requirements as far as what can or can not use it. 3.4 19274 is what I have and I have not had any issue with it. Even with using Android Auto most of the time. When 4.0 comes out, it will start to compete with the Google and possibly the Apple products.... again, it all will depend on what hardware your vehicle comes with . I would be interested on where you think Sync 3 has been 'proven to be a joke', I agree with Sync and Sync 2, MS and FOrd did not get it right there. And your 08 probably has Sync , unless it was the base Ford.
  11. Does not look like a Fusion, more like a Focus, but larger
  12. Crutchfield would know about that... call them back
  13. Ford would sometimes use a different part number, even for the same part... (as a guess and it's JUST a guess, I bet it is based on where it was made and what it goes in) What it boils down is as long as the part comes from a vehicle that has most of the features you have, then you should be good. You might have to use ForScan to adjust some settings. (Or pay someone to make and who you how to use it) Try to keep the part from as close to the year as possible... unless you know what you are doing as far as ForScan.
  14. There are kits to add a 3rd party unit, (Kenwood, Pioneer ..etc...) I had a Pioneer added to my 2012 that kept the LED part at the top. So they are out there.
  15. Sounds like the APIM is dieing... hope that they cover it... it is about $1000 (more or less) to replace if not.... better to get one from car-part.com via a wreck
  16. No I did not miss that... I don't know anything about the non-sync units, and if there is a way to "Master Reset" anything. ? It was more of a 'if you can' Car-part.com is a good place to look for a replacement
  17. And to think that I had a chance to buy a 1965 2+2 in baby blue for 2500 in 1973. I think it had the 302 I didn't have the 2500 at the time....
  18. See if you can navigate to the Master Reset and do that. (I don't remember where it is) That will purge all settings back to default...
  19. I had a 2012 SEL that had Sync 1 (looks like the display) I think it said Sync by Microsoft in front of the shifter see if there are other phones 'paired' to the unit, and delete them, I think there is a limit on how many. I quickly swapped it out for a Pioneer 2DIN , so I don't remember much of the settings for it.
  20. The MKZ's don't even show you that anymore. I've gotten used to it, but I miss it...
  21. The stock 12v battery is not one to just 'replace' it will take some reprogramming as well so that the car knows it has a new battery. I would see if CarMax does this... if not see if they will pay for that if you take it to the Lincoln Dealer. The dealer can see if it got the appropriate battery too.
  22. It is not just swapping the speakers and the AMP, you will need the FCIM (Face plate) and all the wiring, not to mention the programing. I believe it can be done, I think that someone here did it... you will need to search for it...
  23. Hmmm... sounds like the module that conrols it might be going bad... I just don't know the name of it... BCM maybe?
  24. Yup, I understood. This is not one of those 'it is too loud' things... I just happend to notice it one day... so not a nusence. ? But yes, when I take it in for the oil change, I will see if they can take a look and just make sure... if it is not normal, then I'll get my loaner and get it fixed. ?
  25. I've noticed that the climate fan for my 2020 MKZ is always on.... so I will take it in and have them check it... it's time for an oil change anyway... and I'll get a loaner. ?
