  1. My issue was a defective aftermarket unit. While an OEM unit still has the possibility to be defective, it's more likely incorrectly installed, or due to accident damage. Either way, if it's under warranty, I'd take it back to the dealer to have it fixed. It may be considered a 'safety issue'.
  2. Looking into a used 2010-2012 fusion. I have been unable to find much on the reliability of the 2.5L inline 4 but have come across a few articles indicating potential problems with the 6-speed auto trans offered on non-sport models. One of the models I drove did seem to shift harsh under load (2-3 shift especially) as well as between forward and reverse and vice versa. Are either the 2.5 or the trans offered these years prone to major issues? Thanks.
  3. After taking the rubber covers to access the bulbs (I assume that is what you meant by caps) the lamp internals do not jiggle, but I can see that the gap between the pivoting part and the rest of the housing gets wider, and in the direction that would make the light aim off to the right like it does. (viewing from the front through the 'glass') I will see what I can do about getting the 'laughtermarket' headlamp warrantied, as the OEM light did clean up to an acceptable level, but against the new aftermarket light on the other side (which is fine) it's a noticeable difference in light output (even with new bulbs in both) Thanks all
  4. Putting the original headlight housing back in after wet-sanding and polishing up the 'glass' did work, so the new aftermarket headlamp housing low beam was misaligned side to side - high beam seemed fine. Queen B - if you replaced the bulb only and not the whole housing (mine were badly yellowed and cloudy) try a different bulb?
  5. Tried that, even swapped out the bulb from the old lamp housing thinking maybe the new bulb was somehow bent. still off. I'll be cleaning up the old headlight and re-installing it this weekend... and checking more thoroughly for signs of damage or other misalignment of the mounting area. I'll post my findings. Thanks all for the input and advice thus far.
  6. I asked the dealer we bought the car from (used) to throw in a pair of headlights with the sale. They were not OEM I did not notice any collision damage when I looked over the car (having done bodywork, I have an eye for it) I will look into attempting to shine up the factory headlight and trying that out, that one is quite far gone though.
  7. I recently replaced the headlights on my wife's 2006 Fusion due to them being very yellow and fogged. The left headlight aims very far to the right (further right than the right headlight) The headlight lines match up with the body lines of the hood, bumper and fender just fine, so I believe the installation was correct. Everything I've read so far says there is only top to bottom adjustment of these lights. Are there any other reasons this might be so far off? Is there any decent way to adjust for side to side? I've tried loosening the bolts and shifting the headlight, but can not get enough angle on it to compensate. Thanks.
