  1. I have a Fusion and a ST. The Fusion has it's place, and the ST has it's place in our family. I can't see the reason to confuse them among our five Fords in the stables.
  2. The dealer was Andy Shaw of Sylva NC. I bought the car over the weekend. I basically went to the other dealer (that I spoke of in my above post that I have good releationship with) and he got me the car from the first dealer and gave me the deal I wanted to begin with. Ya know, if the Sales Manager at the first dealership had just been a little more honest up front, he would have sold me a car. Yeah... he ended up moving the car anyway, but I would rather give my money to the good dealership instead. They were great to get me the car and sell it to me like it was one off their lot. So I'm a new owner of a 2009 Vapor Silver SEL V6 with the Sport Appearance Package (14T). I drive 70 miles round trip to work each day.... and the info center said it was getting between 27.0 and 29.2 MPG coming to work this morning. I hope this is low and the car will get better after the break in period. If it doesn't, then thats pretty good for the V6 in my opinion. I was in a V6 before and doing worse than this. Thanks for everyone's input and help here.
  3. Thanks for all the replies!!! I wish I could wait for the 2010 model as it sounds like it would be worth the wait. However, I am having to replace a Pontiac that I bought new in 96 and have drove as a work car for the last 12 to 13 years. It finally laid down on me and I'm not going to put anymore $ into it. I went last night to go buy a 2009 Fusion SEL V6 and the Sport Apperance Package. The dealer claimed they would sell it at Invoice. So the wife and I go and drive it and decide we want to make a deal with them. I go inside and tell them I would like to see the actual Factory Invoice, and the Sales Manager blows a lid on me..... he starts accusing me of not trusting them, and that I was making them out to be liars. Basically he became defensive and somewhat elevated in the way he was talking to me. I clamly explained that I have never done business with them, nor did I have any references from anyone that has ever done business with them, and that they didn't really know me either.... so sure..... neither one of us has a trust built with each other I told them. He continued to rant about how I was not trusting them and that came it across as I was calling them liars. So I got frustrated and walked out. After that, I do not have intentions of going back (even if they drop the price below invoice). I was amazed that the Sales Manager conducted himself in this way. I could see a Salesman doing that, but the Manager???? You would think he understood the concept of us (the consumer) buying his cars is what keeps him in business, but I guess not in this case. So here is the bad news!!! This is the exact car that I want..... nothing different! So I called another dealer (that I have a good relationship with) to find me one, and they can't find one like it within a 2400 mile radius. So I'm not sure I'm going to be able to join the ranks of the Fusion owners at this time. I am going to go drive a 4 cylinder version of the car today.... but I know in my heart I want the V6 SEL and the Sport Apperance Package. If I order one, I will not be able to take advantage of the current $3,400 rebate in my area for the car. Mainly because I won't take delivery until the car gets here, and the rebate is only good when taking delivery before Sept 30. So I'm trying to join the ranks of you guys, and I would have last night if it haden't been for a cocky Sales Manager. In my opinion, he must have had something to hide to have acted so defensive! Basically I'm not dropping my money at a place like that!!!!! Again thanks for all the input. Todd
  4. Hi everyone, I am new here simply because I am looking to buy a Fusion SEL with the Sport Apperance Package. However I have some questions first... Front Tag Holder? Can the front tag holder be removed from the car without leaving holes in the rubber bumper cover? For some reason all these dealers I ask can’t seem to give me a straight answer????? Which Motor should I select? I have been used to driving a 3.1L V6 in a Pontiac Grand Am, so should I stay with the V6 or go with the 4 banger in the fusion???? Sure I have drove both the 4 cylinder and V6, and the 4 cylinder is peppy but not like the V6 I had before, nor the V6 in the fusion. I worry that the 4 cylinder will loose a little pep over time as it gets older and more usage. Should I be concerned with that concept? I am mainly buying this car to be my work car and I drive 70 miles round trip (most all highway) to and from work. If I put my wife and kid in the car and go on a trip, will the 4 cylinder be loaded down more and I notice it (because of the increased passenger weight)? Is the difference in MPG really enough to go for the 4 cylinder??? I live in Western NC in the Great Smoky Mountains, so the mountain terrain might be of concern to my choice of motors also. Price?? I have found several 2009 Fusion cars that I like, and these Dealers are very quick to accept that I want to buy it at Invoice price (I’m not trading anything in or financing anything… just buying it out right and paying for it on the spot). I am concerned that I am offering too much for the car (when I offer to deal with them at invoice price). Should I expect to buy this car below invoice???? It just seems these dealers are too quick to accept that I want it no higher than invoice price (before rebates). It makes me feel like I offered too much!!!! Does that seem right??? Thanks for any help you folks might offer. I'm sure I will have more questions in the coming days. Todd
