This is an old thread...but I've been looking at running trailer wiring on my 08 Fusion SEL that I just got. That "box" in the pictures is the control module for the keyless entry. I know this because my car didn't come with a manual, nor the access code. I had to crawl under the dash to find the module to get the access code. So I imagine that on cars without the keyless entry, the magic white plug is probably very visible. On ones with keyless, it is underneath that module.
