  1. Always always always RTFM for fluid specs and other part numbers. Don't rely on what someone tells you.

Agreed, this was my case previously, now I know exactly what fluid to ask to be used, although my issue wasn't entirely fluid related, but ptu related as well which was fixed today this morning after a few more mods had been performed in the ptu.

  2.

Kind of, but I am not sure we are experiencing the same thing. Definitely sounds similar, though. It's most prominent on my car from about 15-25 mph (up to 40 when its cold) and above that and at highway speed its gone. It definitely subsides as the car is driven around. I don't know if I would describe it as holding the car...

The PTU is dry as well.

What do you mean with dry ptu ? It has to have oil inside so it cannot be dry or do you mean just externally ?

    ** Edit ** : Got it, you've checked it for leaks. :)

  3. Here - I'll make it easy for you.

You are 100% right, I was really stupid here for not reading the manual, I'm sorry. I was mad because the dealer provided me with wrong informations, telling me I had to use Oil SAE 140 for rear differential and 180w190 for PTU wtf ? A ford tech telling me to do this ? 100% wrong....

Here in Brazil, the dealers don't give a **** about you, they only want to take your money.... by charging you 50/hour for services and still providing you with very wrong informations... Imagine if I followed what I was told to, it would be a disaster. :(

Also, my tranny went down at 50k miles, and the tech that fixed it, also had to make repairs in the PTU and he filled it with SAE 90 oil, now I'm feeling a vibration in my car in the first 5-10 minutes while "pushing", I believe this is due to the SAE 90 oil, I'll go tomorrow to an oil exchange shop and ask to change it immediately to SAE 75w140 Synthetic...

For the tranny, he has used Dexron III-H, not sure if it will work good, but considering what he did with the SAE 90 oil in PTU, I guess it is better to flush the tranny oil and replace with proper one which is Mercon LV...

  4. Use only what is specified in the owner's manual. If you don't have one you can get it from fleet.ford.com or www.motorcraftservice.com .

Ford does not advertise this as technically you don't replace the oil, the main problem is, I have to, since I'm doing a maintenance in the car and the ptu and rear differential oil had to be flushed... now I don't know the correct specifications.

  5. Thanks for the quick reply. I did already check the tires and I also rotated them. I get what you are saying about the struts causing a bouncing but its a different type of bounce. I.e it doesn't happen in response to a bump and it rarely happens on the highway, it will just randomly start kind of making a loud noise in the front right repeatedly with kind of a bouncing sensation. It's very hard to describe lol but it reminds me of when my caliper was locked up on an older BMW causing the wheel to overheat making a similar noise.

Also, brakes are relatively new and the caliper appears to be in good shape.

The only leaks I see are on the rear differential unit. It just appears to be wet but not actively leaking.

I have a similar vibration issue, generally when I'm "pushing" with the car, if it is just inertially moving there is no vibration, then after 5~10 minutes the vibration stops happening. Seems to be PTU related, it is like if there was some bearing or tyre issue as it really vibrates the car, the more you push, the more is the vibration noticeable, but then it suddenly stops, or reduce a lot in a way there is very hard to notice it, is it like that maybe ?

The sensation is like if something is "holding" the car causing that vibration right ? :D
