  2. 96RS-DLG Sorry I haven't had time for pics, first days back at work after getting back from overseas and now I'm heading to drill. Hopefully Sunday. Yup, no lip
  3. So, the day after Xmas I had to get a new battery and the dealership was closed so I went to Autozone and got a Duralast Gold. No big deal until I get it home and realize there is no lip to hold it in place. Any one else come across this?
  4. Thanks for the welcome. The wife is liking the Fusion so far, as she has a 2011 Edge w/out MFT, I'm waiting for her to have me research trading it in (got 2 quotes for 10K) and getting a 12/13/14 with fewer miles. Its also very close in size to her old 2005 Accord. So there is a comfort level there. As for methods and products..... I enjoyed detailing and mostly did friends and family so I was only charging at most $120 for 4-5 hours. Kind of therapeutic. When I worked for a place in college, we used Ardex and I liked the ease of the products. Now, I mostly use Mothers, Meguiars, Turtle Wax, Black Magic and when they are on sale, Griots or Adams Essentials. Invisible Glass for all windows Invest in a Dual Action Polisher (DAP) and I enjoy using Meguires Professional Polishing System. Always Clay first. You don't need EVERY step (I have 2,4, and 7, I think), but start at a low number and go higher until you get rid swirl marks or water spots. Then seal all that up with a couple of layers of wax. (Don't forget to clean your pads after every use). Plan on 4-5 hours to do 3 "laps" of the car if you're trying to really recondition. And you can also seal it. Tires: Get the cheapest stuff that doesn't run, I like black magic aerosol. If you use a trigger spray, wipe the gloss on, then do a very light mist as a second coat. let it dry for at least an hour. For wax, there are so many variables. 1. How often you wax it 2. When you plan on waxing it again 3. Is this a neglected car that might be seeing wax for the first time (definitely use a cleaner wax) 4. Each car/paint is different so try a few and see what give you the best results (based on effort) Highly recommend on cars that have plastic on the lower portions, use Wipe New. I do it twice a year and it pretty much lasts almost 6 months (maybe not as long in the northern states) You can spends hundreds (thousands really) on products, so I usually go for the bang for the buck. Hope any of the above helps. Happy to help if anything comes up. I'll get some more pics up after the rims are fixed, the K&N is installed and I do a once over on the car. Take care, -Mickey
  5. Evening guys. Been a Ford fan since my 1990 Taurus, but that was another life ago. Traded in a 2005 Honda Accord with 205K on the odo and finally convinced the wife that it was better as a down payment than a paper weight. Her (my former) DD is a 2011 Edge SEL with about 98K on it. (I used to be active on the Edge Forum) Picked up my Fusion about a week ago with 24K in it. I finally have a car the exactly the way I want it. Pretty much fully loaded. K&N filter is awaiting installation. Probably going to Tint 35% all around and do some other things one at a time. Car was local and only 24k after 3 years, so lucky me.....except for 3 of the rims that need to be redone. Was a self-employed car detailer in the past when I had spare time, but now most of that is dedicated to a 11mo old, the wife and house. But if you have car care questions, LMK. I'm sure there are others that know more than me. Looking forward to being here. -Mickey
