There is a slight advantage to living in Detroit and having access to Ford engineers. Ford has identified the problem and says that if we wait 3 -4 minutes after putting the car in park and shutting the engine off, it will fuel properly. I tested this and they are correct. However, for now, it is expedient to simply turn the electrical system back on, without starting the car, and pump the gas. As mentioned above, that works too.
The engineer says he has a software fix that they are applying to vehicles now being manufactured and will have the modification available to dealers soon.
