I had this problem with the first 10 or so fill ups but solved the problem. When you pull up to the pump, move the transmission dial to park, take your foot off the brake and press the start button. If you follow this procedure you should have no problem with the pump turning off 10 to 20 times.

I have had this fuel filler problem since buying my 2017 Fusion 2 months ago. The pump shuts off about 30 times before it finally fills up. I brought it to the dealer today and they just called me and said it fills with no problem for them. That doesn't make any sense. I have used many different gas stations in four different states while on a trip to the Smokey mountains and had the same problem every time. I tried many different angles, filling slowly, pulling nozzle in and out, putting pressure on nozzle. No difference. I have used at least five different gas stations around the area and no difference. It takes forever to fill.
