  1. Thanks for your reply. What was Ford thinking? We're talking .5 Amps for my 60 watt laptop charger. I'm not plugging in a finicky flat screen or 1200 Watt Home Theatre Amp here (where power quality is super important). What device labeled 110v A/C will anticipate 99.3 volts? No wonder my laptop didn't recognize it. I am guessing a 5 watt 110 volt USB charger might work.. Just expected more since everything else is so well done.
  2. I would like to bump this.. Ford tells me the 110volt outlet should be putting out 99 volts -- which is useless (right?) I have a 2017 Ford Fusion Platinum which I love dearly. While shopping I noticed the Platinum trim came with a 110volt A/C two prong outlet. I thought it would be great for charging my laptop, but it never worked (see complaint in service request below). After 4 years (as I stared at my dead laptop in the passenger seat) it dawned on me that my outlet might be defective. "This might be covered under that super expensive top-end extended warranty I bought. genius!" Nothing to lose, right? After two hours the Ford dealer service desk tells me all is well. "No problem! The outlet is putting out right at spec. 99Volts!" We will have to charge you your $50 deductible for the investigation. Have a great day!" Any thoughts? What am I supposed to do with 99 volts?
  3. After three years in my 2017 Fusion Hybrid the only things I don’t like are 1 how the brakes “Grab” sharply when the car has been sitting in wet weather. try teaching a 15 year old to dry the brakes by starting and stopping carefully (in no traffic) 4-5 times to get brakes back to normal. 2. Wish there was an audible tone when I turn on turn signal and a car is in blind spot. I can’t see das blinking light !
  4. “ Head explodes.. It’s been a good reliable car, a good seller for us over the last 10 years or so,” said Joe Wood, new car sales manager at Northgate Ford in Port Huron. “The fact that Ford is decreasing the number of cars alarms people who are loyal Fusion buyers. Keeping the name, a solid name brand, would be a smart idea.” “While current Ford Fusion production ends in a few years, we’ll likely continue to use the name because of its awareness, positive imagery and value with consumers,” said Mike Levine, Ford North America product communications manager. “However, it’s too soon to speculate on what that new vehicle may look like.” Detroit Free Press: July 11, 2018 You’ll never guess what the new Ford Fusion looks like

  7. Finally.. the wait is over. Waze is now available for iOS device owners on Ford SYNC 3. You'll need to update to the latest everything (see below). Waze is free. Waze data is "crowd sourced" -- people on the road report accidents, police cars, and traffic jams -- which show up on your display in a minute or two (as compared to an hour with Sirius Traffic Link). It is a fantastic application (which is why Google bought it..). Here is my report.. To get Waze to work on my Ford I had to disable Apple Carplay through the Ford SYNC 3 settings before anything would happen. Activating Waze on the phone and plugging it in opened up new menus and displays - the key one being setting your default navigation software (a menu item that appears only when Waze is detected. There were glitches, and one crash. For a while when I plugged in the USB on the phone I got the dreaded "Inserted USB is not detected" message. I soft rebooted SYNC 3 and power-cycled my phone and things straightened out. Here is a demo video- sadly done in the garage instead of on the road (not safe to drive and film), but you get the idea.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6ntZrJ1bpM Wazer since 2013 2017 Ford Fusion Hybrid SYNC 3, v3.0 Build 18025 iPhone X iOS 11.2.6 Waze 4.37.0.0
  8. I can't affor I can't afford another $10,000 for the same car (MKZ over Fusion Platinum). Believe me, I tried. At the time I bought my Ford Fusion Platinum (Jan 4, 2017) I was able to negotiate the Ford Fusion Platinum price down by a whopping $5000 (you could probably do better a year later when demand was down 33%). To get the same high technology (driver assist) that comes standard with a Fusion Platinum, and leather everywhere, you need to higher SELECT level MKZ with $4,300 in options. Since there were only 2 Lincoln Select MKZ vehicles with the $4300 tech package in the metro area (5-6 Lincoln dealers and 8 Fusions sold for every MKZ makes slim pickings..) the dealer wouldn't budge pst the "generous Lincoln specials and superior service". There plenty of "Premier" level models sitting on the lot over $50,000 of course. The only tangible difference I could find between the models was that the Lincoln has the active suspension (exclusive to the Fusion Sport) and heated rear seats. With Incentives Ford Fusion Platinum $32,000 (negotiated - no one is buying them) Lincoln MKZ $41,295 (with $2500 incentives) Please post your comparisons with exactly the options of a Platinum.
  9. I love my 2017 Ford Fusion Platinum. The leather trim EVERYWHERE (dash included) along with a few other exclusive features plus ALL options was a deal maker for me. I urge you to take a look at the Platinum trim before the end of the 2018 model year. Additional standard equipment has been added to the SEL and Titanium trim levels as well, while the top-end Platinum trim has been discontinued for 2019. Ford says the 2018 Fusion can be had in 2,000 different combinations, while the 2019 model has been pared down to 36 variations. This stark difference is likely an effort to simplify manufacturing of the car and increase the value proposition on one of the brand’s oldest models. 2019 Ford Fusion Goes Under the Knife, Gains Standard Features
  10. FYI.. Anti-Freeze is EXTREMELY toxic to pets..
  11. SHORT VERSION Is there a key hole (key cylinder) inside a 2017 Ford Fusion where I can insert a key blade? This would either start the car (old school), or allow the Start button to work without the presence of a MyKey fob.. LONG VERSION I work 60 miles from home. If I lose my fob (I lose things) I can't go home without calling Ford or a locksmith. Maybe I don't have a phone. I don't want to carry two fobs in my pocket - one as a backup (since that would be silly). Sure I could spend hundreds of dollars on a third fob, but I am cheap. My plan is to have an extra key made by a locksmith and put it in my desk drawer just in case.. I assume the key would hold some kind of anti-theft device needed to allow the vehicle to start (if that is in the Fob then we are done here I suppose). I know the key blade can open the driver door mechanically using the procedure shown in the manual. (Slide and remove the hidden cap on the rear end of the driver door handle, then insert key blade into slot from below that is exposed facing up into bottom of handle. Of course the SecuriCode keypad could have gotten me in.. just talking key blades here.. [did you know there is a key slot in the end of each door to allow you to lock each one individually should you need to do so?] Now what? I'm in my Fusion. No Fob. Key blade in hand. Is there a place to insert the key blade inside the car? I thought it was under the cup holder, but thats where the molded "key pairing" indention (called a "backup slot") is located. Sorry if a duplicated. I searched but couldn't find a post like this.
  12. Short rant.. 1. Adaptive Cruise with Stop and Go On my 2017 Fusion Platinum Hybrid I am terrified I am going to plow into someone because the "Adaptive Cruise with Stop and Go" is OFF when I think it is ON, and vice versa. The little "smaller than a dime" indicator in the far lower left corner is not assertive enough and hard to see when driving into the sun. There should be a tone when I turn adaptive cruise off and a similar tone when I turn it on. There should be small/inconspicuous but reassuring heads-up display (dot or whatever) anytime the car is in a mode where the computer controlled braking is ON. Stop and Go could not be better - but a more aggressive tone when the car needs me to hit RES would be nice. 2. BLIS I don't feel BLIS is assertive enough. I have a hard time telling colors and the Amber is difficult to see in daylight for me. I wish I could have an option to turn on a LOUD tone when I turn on my signal and a car is there. The flashing light is almost useless to me during daytime. Maybe I am missing a setting.
  13. Might be an excellent time to consider "take off" wheels. "Take off wheels" come from new cars where the new owner, for some reason, wanted other wheels from the get go and "dumped" their brand new wheels (and tires) from the factory. This company in Detroit specializes in hooking people up with (or buying/brokering) take off wheels and tires. Might be a source for you.. 14. A coworker bought a Tesla Model S recently. He and his wife LOVE their new car. So.. he gets dropped off by the wife this morning and she heads to work. He gets a call.. Him: "My wife called. She locked herself out of the car. I have the key fob". Me: "That's the new Tesla S?" Him. Yeah.. I was able to use this cool Tesla app on my phone to unlock her car from here!". Me. "Yeah my Ford Fusion does that. I can unlock my car in Portland, Maine from Portland Washington" Him.. "Oh?" Me "Yeah. If my Fusion is running and someone tries to walk away with the key fob in their pocket (like you did), the horn starts honking. Why doesn't the Tesla S do that?" Him.. "uhh.." Me "Oh.. if she had a Ford Fusion she could also touch the drivers door pillar to activate the invisible key pad. Enter your PIN and your doors unlock - without a key or fob." Him "uhh.." A little shopping (MSRP only -- no price talk on the forum!).. I'll stick with my Ford Fusion thank you.. 2017 Ford Fusion SE MSRP $24,125 (including delivery) S Trim includes Keyless entry key fob SE Trim adds SecuriCode keyless entry keypad or (he admitted to getting the Full Self Driving Package) 2017 Tesla Model S MSRP $78,700 (including delivery, not including $7,500 tax credit) includes packages Enhanced Autopilot Full Self-Driving Capability I don't know if he got the $3500 premium upgrade package with the "Bio-Weapon Defense Mode" air filter.
  15. I have a 2017 FFH Platinum (includes best SYNC3 audio system) I supposedly have HD Radio capability. I tune to AM 1120 (KMOX St. Louis), an HD Radio station "since 2006". All I get is non HD Radio. No indicator.. It is definitely analog (hear static). What am I doing wrong? How do I get HD Radio on my AM/FM tuner? I looked at the manual but it gave me a headache. It said something about a "multicast indicator" (FM Only?).
