  1. Simple enough to figure out myself I guess. I've got a package of 12mm thread Gorillas left over from my Focus. I could spin one off the wheel and see it the 12's spin on. (The only reason for hesitating with that plan is the package is unopened and... it's a small community here and.... I was thinking I'd eventually bump into the guy I sold the Focus to and... actually I've got medium sized box full of Focus stuff/parts I was going to give him). The reason I ask in the first place, is I want to change out the "capped" stock lug nuts with solid(non-"capped") chrome. I mean, I'll probably keep the new ones on the shelf until the first time an impact wrench tears the cap off one or more of the stock ones, but, if the ones that came on my 07 Focus are any indication, that'll be the be the first time an impact wrench touches them.
  2. YOU ARE CORRECT. It took a few days to see them do it. The first time I looked I put the car in park and walked around to the front. In park the headlights went off. But the other day it was more dark on the way to work and I KNEW the headlights were on, FIRST of all, because of "reverse-graphics" on the touch-screen.
  3. I was wondering about thread size, because, Amazon's "filter" for 2017 Fusion says M12-1.5 (or 12mm) will FIT BUT Rockauto says it's M14. NOW RockAuto ALSO say's it's a 21mm HEX socket which I KNOW is wrong since it's easy enough to pop a 19mm on mine it's a fit. So... if they're wrong on the HEX I'm guessing they're wrong on the thread size as well?
  4. ok, I'll buy that. SOOO the large-ish square on the backside of the mirror would be THAT and NOT the "sender" for the universal garage door opener which it turns out, requires nothing visible.
  5. It's a cross between a "bummer" and "bumper" or maybe it was a typo. hard to say. (in fairness I DID do it twice) (Denny Crane said "mad cow")
  6. assuming you're referring to the pic I posted? (the one with file-name "nosensing"?) I was assuming the two little things/squares seen were pre-positioned ports for a front cam.? The "auto-dimming mirror" ideally, I would think, would be reacting to someone behind you with their brights on. (in which case a forward facing sensor being moot) no?
  7. Thanks drolds: Pretty good video. Main take away is... it still comes down to personal preference, and, it MAY be SOMEWHAT relative to how much you want to spend. The cheaper ones are probably fine... IF it makes you feel a little better to spend a little more, it won't hurt, it might help... Basically a whole lot of "open to interpretation". Near as I could tell he SEEMED to be kinda singling out the WIX-XP and the K&N HP as the front runners. and he pretty much talked me out of the Royal Purple. Then there was some guy in the comment section talking about K&N now being made in Mexico and supposedly now cheaper materials.... Nothing to back it up... and the video was only from last year so.... I'm still leaning towards the K&N. If there's an access issue with the 1.5 eco then that wrench-knob feature might be useful.(?) I'll probably get one and if the wrench-knob thing turns out to be of no benefit probably get something else the next time.
  8. SO apparently the oil filter on the 1.5ecob is awkward to get at. Oh joy. I was wondering about that, having still yet to get my on a lift and have a look, sooo... good know. To that point, K&N makes a filter with "wrench off" knob fitting, which Amazon says fits my '17 1.5. What's the consensus on K&N OIL filters in general? (I'm aware of the CAI and air filter 'issues' & Tubo bade damage) Thanks
  9. It was a You tube video that supposedly applied to '12-'16, it involved popping off the dash trim surrounding the glove box, then completely removing the glove box, to expose the filter or the final cover securing it. And there were some clips you could break if you weren't careful. (I assumed my 17 would be a proc'd-match with the 16) ....and, guilty, I LIKE caps.
  10. Ok, lets put this to bed. This wasn't really a question so much as just pointing some less than clear sections in the manual. Still the answer, to the extent that could be one, was the simplest. (marked). I have the Luxury Package, and the Technology Package. I DO NOT have the "Luxury Driver Assist" package. My "Order Acceptance" pdf refers to, "Auto Halogen Headlamp with Headlamp Courtesy Delay" Near as I can tell all that means is there's a setting on my headlight dial/switch that permits the headlights to go off "automatically", with a delay, (along with all the other lights) when I turn the car off and close the door. In other words "no keys no lights". (Something my 72 Fiat 128 did). Near as I can tell it does NOT mean, headlights "auto on" the dark or dim light, then auto-off when the sun comes out. Rain Sensing wipers for SURE no, that was a dumb question from jump, but, it did, I think, generate some interesting. informative discourse. My Thanks to all who participated.
  11. I just lost 45 minutes worth of reply when I tried to insert an image by clicking on the "IMAGE" icon above. which then wanted a URL. and then wouldn't close no matter what I did, "OK". "Cancel" tried giving it a URL, nothing worked. no path back to my reply. I actually DID copy the text first, but AFTER THAT I copied the IMAGE in hopes of pasting THAT and over-wrote the text copy. So, all gone. I'll try again tomorrow night. KUDOS ALL on some really great input here tho'
  12. REf: your '06 experience, agreed, you never know. point taken. But as for the 2013, wasn't that year-0ne of the current base-design?, (first year of the sexy grill?), For my money the current 2017 Fusion is one of the best looking Fords in 20 years. (Mustangs included) My 2017 pretty much HAS TO BE a good girl. I'm in Italy (with the U.S. military) which is how I even HAVE a "U.S. spec" vehicle. BAD NEWS is the local Italian FORD dealer while TECHNICALLY obligated to provide service isn't required to do so "with a smile". (and they don't), The nearest "authorized" service center affiliated with the DEALER I purchased it from is in GERMANY. I'll be doing all my own routine maintenance. Good "Auto-Crafts" place on base here, ASE certified tech to assist, 4 or 5 drive-on lifts and 2 or 3 that let the wheels hang-type. So... routine maint-wise not concerned. What you had with your 2013... that would be not good.
  13. Personally I have a pretty hard and fast rule, when ever buying any NEW OR USED car to always avoid at LEAST the first 3 years of any new major re-design. And instead actually SEEK OUT one of the LAST years of a "re-design", (hence my new 2017) (I'm betting the FUSION's next major-make-over-first-year-of will be 2019). All that said, 2011 was actually 2nd to the last year of that design-build. So I'm a little surprised it was so f'd up. STILL There was a lot of new(ish) technology in that year. File this under (my) dumb-luck, my previous new-buy was an '07 Focus SES, and this is true, the BIG reason I passed on the FUSION that year, (I looked at it because I REALLY WANTED the "trip-computer") but I had to pass because, no-joke, I totally hated the big toothy-looking flat-chrome-bar grill. (also it was just the 3rd year of the U.S. Fusion, period), anyway, Just dumb luck. The Focus was a total JOY of no problems. (and I kinda abused it too)
  14. I just got mine, a 2017, I was curious about changing the Cabin Air Filter, (when the time comes) First there seems to be a pretty WIDE selection of brands and "grade-levels" with prices ranging from about 8 bucks to a little over $20. Anyone here think the pricey ones are worth the difference and do "WE" have a preference. SECOND, one of the reasons I ASK I just took a look at what-alls involved with the changing of same, for a 2012-2016 and assuming my 2017 is NO SIMPLER, (good LORD!!) IF I'M GOING TO THAT MUCH annoyance to GET AT THE DANG THING, spending a few buck more for the best one possible seems like an investment worth making. thanks in advance,
  15. thanks drolds, mine doesn't look EXACTLY like that BUT there dose appear to be two possibilities (as part of the rearview mirror), facing the windshield, that could be 'that', now, I DO for sure have the "universal" gate/door remote so at least ONE of the those is probably the sender-eye for that. It's after dark here now and I didn't bring my camera with me tonight anyway (at work). But tomorrow I'll be glad to post a pic of exactly what mine does look like, plus it will give me chance to once over the "long-list" pdf thing that shows exactly what the car is supposed to have, and we can put this to rest. No biggie but the manual COULD BE a smidge more clear. Thanks to all for your time and input
  16. This above seems to support no-rain sensing (consistent with seeing only "courtesy wipe" under wipers in the info-settings. separately my "Quote-reply" button never quotes NOR can I get any of the 3 "button" "paste" options to work either. SO IF SOME of my replies seem a bit disconnected that would be a big part of that.
  17. OK I just did a little quick research on this and the news is not so bad. one of the bulbs can be changed with ZERO bumper removing. HOWEVER you may need small hands or to enlist the assistance of a child or woman with small hands. The Low beam and foglight bulb another story, but still far from total bumper removal. You can get by with a partial-one side-partial- drop gets you in there. and it's an hour tops doing it yourself. Dealer should be able to do it an about half that time.
  18. ok so that's cool. HOWEVAH, I only get the top Summary. "Primary Features" When I click on the "click here to expand this" it just sits there. I even switched browsers. Same blank stare.
  19. sounds LIKE coughing up the extra at purchase time for the full-LED headlight running lights turn-signal lights might be well advised. The operating assumption being the LEDs last a lot longer.
  20. I TRIED "etis.ford.com" it had the wong vehicle. All the details matched EXCEPT for the "Vehicle Line". It thinks it's a "Transit Connect" (year 2002) (with a build date of 26 APR 2017) I triple checked the VIN and even pumped it in a 2nd time.
  21. Thanks all, good input. The manual says that (if equipped) the "rain-sensing" is turned on by default. UNLESS turned off by the ower, the option to do so, near as I can tell should be located under the same menu option where "courtesy wipe" appears. MEANING unless I'm missing something. if all I see there is the "Courtesy wipe" option, I must me sensa the rain-sensing. Which seems a little odd since I DO HAVE the Auto-headlamps and Auto-dimming rearview mirror. AKIRBY: I DO have a like 6 or 7 page PDF from the dealer that supposedly details every little thing. It's just not with me at the moment.
  22. I suppose I could wait for it to RAIN to find out BUT... UNDER INFORMATION DISPLAY SETTINGS (page 101 in my manual) "COURTESY WIPE" box but no "RAIN SENSING" box means: 1.) I DON'T have "Rain Sensing" wipers 2.) They are the same thing. and, if "2" then, "Courtesy Wipe" box checked means Rain Sensing is Turned ON or OFF? OR, IF "1" then what exactly DOES "Courtesy Wipe" selected mean/Do? Thanks
  23. So split the difference. 9k miles, or 10-11 months, or, as soon as the oil begins to no longer look nice and clear any more... or, as soon as TWO out the three is true.
  24. Over a 100k miles and you bought it used to begin with? Let 'er go son. Time to move on. (JMHO)
  25. OK, thanks, that makes sense. Mine is supposed to have "warm interior accents" and there's definitely no "wood-grain-like" trim in sight, but there IS some light-soft-grey trim where others may have something more chrome-like. (around the center instrument panel and the door handle assys.)
