  1. Hello all,

I am hoping someone will be ale to help me. I have a 2014 Fusion Titanium AWD 38,600 miles. A couple of weeks ago I was driving down the high way and all of my dash lights came on (ABS, traction control, seat belt, and there were three warning lights, hill start assist, advancedtrac, park aid malfunction). I pulled over and turn the car off and when I started it again they were still on. The next day I called the dealership and made an appointment to bring it in on that Monday. The next day I drove it and the lights went out, so I canceled my appointment. Then they came back on again. So I decided to have someone I know scan it with his reader, it brought up that the left front wheel speed sensor was bad. So I replaced that and took it back to have the codes cleared, he was able to clear the codes but when I started it they came right back. So I took it to the dealer they kept it over night and when they scanned it they said there were no codes but all the lights and warning were still coming on and sent me on my way "sorry we do not know what is wrong with it". They did not fix anything. So I called Ford and they said if the dealer scanned and no codes were showing there was nothing they could do except for me to take it to another dealer. REALLY!!! That was there answer. Well now I have another appointment with another dealer this Friday. If Ford cannot figure this out how am I supposed too!!!!! Does anyone have any suggestions?? Help!!

I took my car to Krapohl’s Ford in Mt. Pleasant and they did a scan and all codes came up as stated above. So they inspected for bad wheel speed sensor wire on the car side about six inches above the connection to the sensor itself there was a broken/corroded wire. They had to peel back the black plastic wire protector to get to it. So I am assuming this had to come from the manufacturing plant with the defect in the wire. By the way they only charged me $98 to fix this problem. Everything is back to normal.

  2. Just so you understand how this works:

Every Ford dealer is an independent business. Ford is prohibited by law from interfering with how the dealership runs their business and that includes the competency of the service dept. Sounds like yours was either lazy or incompetent - probably lazy in this case. There is little Ford can do other than ask them to please take another look at it, but in this case using a different dealer is a better option.

Since Ford does not do vehicle repairs or service (again, prohibited by law), they have to rely on the dealer for diagnosis and repair. Do you have an extended warranty?

It's unfortunate that it has to work that way but you can blame your state lawmakers for passing automotive franchise laws decades ago. I'm sure the second dealer can help you. The link Artie posted does sound like it may indeed be your problem with a broken wire on the car side of the harness. Another possibility is a broken tone ring which is what the sensor reads but that's not as likely.

Yes my husband told me not deal with that dealer anymore so I am taking to another dealer tomorrow.

I do have an extended warranty but not sure if this would be covered.

I am going to check the broken wire to see if that is the problem. Thank you for your help.

  3. The Site Feedback and Help forum is only for issues having to do with the site itself, not for issues relating to the Fusion. The header for the section reads:

Your post will be moved to an appropriate forum.

WRT to your problem, find another dealer or a competent, well-equipped independent shop. Does your state license auto repair shops? A dealer that will let you out the door with warning lights on and no diagnosis should lose their license. Unconscionable!

Is this "person you know" an auto repair technician or just someone that has a code reader? They should not have cleared the codes right away.

Lastly, we have a search function above. Please use it prior to posting a question. See this thread, which may contain the solution to your problem.

Can you tell me where you are going to move my post so that I can find it? Thank you.

The dealer is a licensed dealer (Lafontaine Ford of Gladwin) where I purchased the car.

The person that I know that has the code reader just did for me to help me out. When I changed the wheel speed sensor I took it back to him to see if his reader would clear the codes and it did but as soon as I started it back up they all came back.

Lastly the tread you recommended may come in handy, I will check this issue out when I get home later today. Thank you for your help.
