  1. There was a problem with the 2009 HVAC systems regarding this very issue that you are describing. I myself personally went through it the first winter I had my 2009. Basically, it took almost 8-months after I purchased my car in November of 2008 before the "fix" was determined. The actual head unit for the HVAC system had to be replaced as there was a "flaw" in the orignal design. Many, many, many 2009 owners reported this problem. If your vehicle is still under warranty, have your dealership order you the new part. Question: are you the first owner of this 2009 Fusion? How long have you had the car? Let us know how you make out.
  2. My 2009 Fusion SEL AWD has the medium light stone leather interior....my buddy drives the same car but with the black interior....he is "very" sorry that he didn't order the light stone. The black shows "every" bit of dirt, smudges etc. IMO, "medium light stone" is the way to go!
  3. Try a mixture of Vinegar and Water in a spray bottle.......use newspaper to spread it around....then follow up with a either paper towels or a soft lint free cotton cloth and wipe it dry. Works everytime!
  4. I'm not sure what you mean by "middle-age"? I'm 48 and I use all aspects of SYNC. My parents are in their 70's. My Mom drives a Lincoln MKX with SYNC and my father drives a Ford F150-Platinum truck with SYNC. Now, trust me my parents are as "technophobic" as anyone BUT, they love SYNC...they use it for the voice activated Navigation, cell phone calls, and yes they both got ipods for Christmas last year and they love that they can access the music via SYNC. I understand that it's personal preference whether to embrace new technology or not, but look at it this way. If you don't use SYNC and all it's wonderful features, then it will most definitely be an added selling feature when you sell/trade the car in and the lucky person you gets your car will thank you for it! IMO.
  5. My sister in law has a 2010 Ford Escape Limited with the same type of stereo...as far as I know the only way to add music to the built-in hard drive is by using c.d.'s. It actually doesn't take that long to transfer an entire disc. If you want to use the usb, my suggestion would be to get an ipod and run it through the sync system "user device" USB setting. Let us know how you make out!
  6. I'm from Ontario, Canada and for the life of me, I don't understand why DRL's (daytime running lights) are not mandatory in the United States. Since 1989 when automatic DRL's were made mandatory here in Canada, the # of collisions, accidents etc. have decreased dramatically. We get a lot of American visitors coming through my area here in Northern Ontario, Canada and it always amazes me when I see their vehicles with no DRL's.
  7. What year is your Fusion? What is the outside temperature reading when you notice the condensation? Is the a/c on? Do you have the "re-circulate" button pressed? On my 2009 Fusion SEL AWD with the automatic climate control, in the summer I "ALWAYS" keep the re-circulate button on, which is the MAX a/c setting. This will reduce the moisture, especially when it is humid out, as it is using the already cooled air in side the vehicle and not taking the moisture heavy air from the outside. The MAX a/c setting is also the most fuel efficient setting when having the a/c in the on position.
  8. Thank you so much for the information! Cheers from Canada!
  9. Hey everyone....a while back, someone posted a "link" so that you could go and get a PDF of the WINDOW STICKER for your car from Ford. Now, that link is no longer operational? Does anyone know if there is a new link or why the existing one doesn't work anymore?
  10. I think you made a good decision......IMO.
  11. When I ordered my 2009 Fusion SEL AWD I ordered the factory remote start...it was a $300.00 CDN option. It's always cheaper to buy the factory option (if available) and then you are assured that it will work with your car. I've heard horror stories about after market/non Ford remote starts. If you can get the Ford brand autostart for under $1,000.00 installed by a Ford dealer, then grab it, IMO.
  12. Congrats on the "new wheels" it looks great!
  13. 2006 Ford Five Hundred Limited AWD. Things I miss.....the size of the trunk...it was huge. I actually loved the Five Hundred....but hated the Taurus makeover. Now, the new Taurus I love. All and all, I love my fusion. Mine's a 2009 so pretty much all of the growing pains/bugs were ironed out. As for my next vehicle, we'll have to wait and see. It will be a Ford/Lincoln model, just not sure which one...AWD is a must because of where I live.

    Welcome to the group!
  15. Welcome to the forum...don't forget to post some pics of your new ride!
  16. Sirius will "not" be around in 3-4 years if they keep going the way they have been. They are losing more customers each month then are signing up. Hang on to your money or at least, only sign up for a few months a time.
  17. I'm from Canada and I've always followed the maintenance schedule for my particular driving patterns, as stated in the guide that came with the car. The interval between services depends on many different things, but I've always thought it was a given that it is "either or" with regards to distance or time between service for the vehicle. If you follow the manufacturer's service guide, have the service documented in your service book with odometer reading, date of service etc. then you don't have to worry about a possible problem down the road i.e. warranty work etc. because you had the car serviced at the suggested times. Just because you don't drive a vehicle that much or often doesn't mean you don't have to follow the service practices as outlined...oil, like gasoline deteriorates over time. A car with a clean air filter performs better and more efficiently. Lubrication of weather striping, hinges and other components are essential for a vehicle. Keep your vehicle well looked after at the recommended intervals, based on your driving habits, time & distance taken into consideration and the vehicle will perform as it was meant to. IMO
  18. Take it back to the dealer that swapped the tires......sometimes it's just a matter of resetting. A buddy of mine owns a tire shop and he tells me that the TPSM is "very sensitive" and it also depends on the type of system. I know on my 2009 Fusion SEL AWD it uses the "band" sensor that goes around the wheel itself. Other cars have a sensor in the valve...not sure what type is on a 2010.
  19. I have let mine expire twice since I got my new fusion in November of '08. I'm from Canada (Northern Ontario actually) and the last one that I got was 6-months for $45.00 (or pay for 3-months, get 3-months free). My current subscription expires on June 15th...I am NOT renewing this time, the sound quality is brutal, the song repeat factor is a joke on all of the music stations. IMO, Sirius will be out of business sooner than later.
  20. I have an ipod Classic with over 12,000 songs on it....the indexing only takes approx. 5-minutes.....my car is a 2009 Fusion SEL AWD, I've never had a problem with mine....if you go on a short trip...turn the car off it "may" start indexing again, but only for a few seconds.
  21. Did you order the car from the factory, or buy it off the delaers lot? I NEVER let the dealer put any stickers/license plate holders etc. on my car. If I were you, I'd take the car to the dealers body shop and ask them to remove it, they have the tools/know how so it should be done right. IMO
  22. Welcome to the forum....I'm sure you're going to "love" your new Fusion as much as we all love ours!
  23. Hmmmm, I'm not sure I agree...my previous car was a Ford Five Hundred AWD Limited, my current car is a Fusion SEL AWD, I live in Northern Ontario, Canada, you know land of Ice & Snow and I have never experienced anything remotely close to what you're describing. Mind you, I have 4-dedicated ICE & SNOW tires on my car, but I don't know why anyone would want to turn off the AWD system as it only engages "when it is needed" i.e. slippage etc.
  24. Your best bet would be to go to "www.syncmyride.com" and look under the FAQ section. I know other iphone/itouch users have expressed concerns over similar situations. One of the reasons I didn't go with an ipod touch was because of the problems one can have while using SYNC. With my ipod Classic 80gb, I have no issues at all with SYNC but, I use the usb connection. I have a HTC Touch Diamond cell phone that is connected by bluetooth that has worked almost flawlessly. Keep in mind, there will be issues with "any" device that uses "wireless" technology, bluetooth or other. Operating circumstances, temperature, interference etc. can affect the performance of an electrical wireless device. Also, at "syncmyride.com" they have a list of "tested" phones/mp3 players etc. to work with SYNC. Always check that resource "before" making a purchase/choice of a new device, so there are no surprises afterwards about compatibility. *Also, SYNC is a Microsoft development, the iphone/itouch devices are Apple/Mac developments.
  25. Drive the car according to the way you'll be "driving the car" in everyday circumstances. I was told, by my dealership many cars ago...including my current Fusion, that the engine/components adapt to the type of driving it is exposed to....and, I was told to drive the car and have fun. Varrying the speed/acceleraton/braking etc. will help the car adapt to it's "new owner."
