  1. I have a 2018 Ford Fusion Energi SE I purchased late last year (last week of September) and up until recently, I had no issues with it. I started having issues where I would get an error saying to check the brakes. This seemed to be reproducible in two circumstances: I had my foot heavy on the brake as I hit the start button OR I used the parking brake and on a slope (maybe my foot was heavy on the brake as I was releasing parking brake). I finally took it to the dealer and they said the problem was a bad "Brake Pedal Diaphragm Travel Sensor". Neither the service guy nor myself had ever heard of such a thing, so I went to Google to figure out what that is... I came up with nothing. I came up with similar things, like a brake pedal position sensor. I've come here to see if anyone knows anything about this. They replaced it for free, after having to wait a few days for the part to arrive, but since I'd never heard of it before, I was just a bit puzzled. I know there are some mechanics that just replace parts until the problem is solved... I'm hoping that isn't who I've dealt with and they were able to definitively find this to be the problem; this was at a Ford dealership though.
  2. Does anyone know what is currently standard in the antenna on the roof of a 2018 Ford Fusion? Is it just an FM antenna? Does it include GPS? Does it include WiFi? Cellular? If so, what type of connectors are used? I have yet to remove the headliner to find out what I'm dealing with... I'd like to know before going through the hassle.
  3. I am contemplating adding a two-way radio to my 2018 Fusion Energi. There are two things I'd like some insight on and HOPE that someone here can give me some insight on. First issue... antenna. I would like to REPLACE the stock antenna on the roof with a multi-band shark fin style antenna. What I want to know is, is the current stock antenna a multi-band antenna, servicing several devices or is it just an FM antenna? The antenna I'm looking to add provides multi-band cellular, GPS, WiFi, broadcast FM (87-108 MHz), and VHF (136-178 MHz). I will need GPS and VHF for the two-way radio and curious if I'll need to route any of the antenna wires and where. Second issue: The radio I'll be installing will have a remote head unit, and my plan is to install the main unit in the trunk, on top of the batteries or bottom side of the rear deck. It appears that the battery I will plug the main power of the radio to is already in the trunk, but I need somewhere to tap an "ignition sense". As my car is a plug-in hybrid... and has a push button to put the car into "Drive Mode", I'm not sure if it makes things different or not. Is there any wire anywhere around the trunk that will provide voltage ONLY when the car has been "started"? I'm hoping it won't be too difficult to run the remote control wire (between the head unit and radio) from the trunk to the space below the screen... in the open storage area near where the USB and lighter plug are. My plan is to mount the head unit to the top of this alcove area.
  4. OK... I just answered my own question, but I figured I'd answer it here, in case anyone is looking for it. I had to change which vehicle I was looking at on the iPhone. I just can't change it on the Watch.
  5. I have a 2016 Ford C-Max Energi and a 2018 Ford Fusion Energi. I am able to access both cars via my iPhone using the MyFordMobile app. I have no issue switching between the two cars via the iPhone app but I can't seem to figure out how to switch between the cars using the Apple Watch app. Does anyone know how I can switch between the two on the Watch? At the moment, I can only see/control my Fusion, but not the C-Max via the Watch.
  6. I am about to purchase a new Ford Fusion Energi Platinum... the dealer has one 2017 on the lot and would save me about $2000. While I am not so wealthy that $2000 is nothing, I want to make sure I don't have any regrets should I take that model over an otherwise identical 2018 model. I have been trying to determine the differences and can't seem to find any other than possibly with the Sync 3 system. It appears that the 2018 model has a built-in cellular modem (AT&T 4G/LTE) that provides a data source for the WiFi hotspot built into the car. It also appears that there is some tie-in with Amazon Echo with the 2018 that doesn't exist in the 2017. Are my findings correct? When it comes to the built-in cellular modem, it appears that it comes with a 3-month trial service but then there are options for $10/month for 3GB cap or $20/month for unlimited data (throttled when hitting 22GB). Now for an assumption, I'd REALLY like to be corrected if I am wrong, but I'm assuming that the cellular modem uses an external antenna, like in the satellite radio/AM/FM/GPS antenna. If that is correct, it seems to me that the signal should be a bit better than my iPhone. This car will be for my wife and along her daily travel, there is a 2-mile section of Interstate 80 (through Dixon, CA) where AT&T's cell service sucks; phone calls get dropped and streaming audio stalls. I'm hoping that a better antenna may maintain a signal with a cell tower through this weak-zone; when streaming or phone calls drop, my phone often shows 1-bar of service as opposed to "No Network". Are there any other differences between the 2017 and 2018 models I haven't mentioned? Any new features? We plan on purchasing this coming weekend.
