  1. I agree! I belong to several Goldwing sites and am a moderator on two of them. We use the members map for many things. If Im heading out west, it's nice to send a PM to those who live along my route to see if they want to meet up for a bite/coffee or if they want to ride together for a while. It's very useful when you break down (which rarely happens on a Goldwing) to be able to contact someone and help is there before you know it. Sometimes it's not a matter of physical help, if Im stuck in California, I have no idea who is a better or trusted mechanic, tow people, hotels etc...... Having access to local information when needed is extremely helpful. I agree, the internet is not a nice place all the time, but Im not putting up personal information. People on the Goldwing forums offer their information to me personally, so I have their cell phone #, emails or even address so if someone breaks down, they have one (or 3) contacts and I will help get them the assistance they need. If any of you are Goldwingers, then you are more than likely also familiar with our "Gold Book". Its a book of literlly thousands if Goldwingers around the country that offer their name, number and address, and the services that they are willing to offer, up to and including, I have a spare room your welcomed to and will offer you a meal or two. Forums are sometimes much more than the article for which we are all here, we are really here because of us!
  2. I won't pretend to know how it works in every State, but I do know in North Carolina a car with a salvaged title can not have another claim filed on it, as the insurance company already paid for the car. In other words, If I bought the car and insured it to the hilt, in the event of an collision that would total the vehicle, the insurance company won't cover it because it has already been written off.
  3. My 2012 SEL has 152,000 on it so would I buy another one....... YUP!! Just did! We love our Fusion, comfortable, reliable, economical (enough). And maintenance?, other than Oil, I changed the plugs once because I had a couple hours to waste..... I haven't even had to change the brake pads on this thing yet. I bought the tools to do it, but they arent even half warn yet...... Oh yea, I replaced the battery because it was getting old..... Again, I needed something to do..... We were looking to trade this one in on a new one but I just didn't care for the 2017's. So we were looking for a low mileage used one. There were a lot of 15's and 16's with 20K miles on them but they arent cheap.... Then I found another 2012 with only 19K miles on it. I test drove it and it drove and rode like new, so I bought it! It will need tires, as the ones that are on it now are the originals and I don't trust them due to age. Other than that, the car is mint. Im looking forward to spending my next 150,000 miles behind a familiar, reliable steering wheel......
