  1. so quick update. finally got a check engine light. p1450 and p0456 evap purge valve. i read that the fusion can get dirt around the inner flap on the fuel fill tube so i cleaned it and with advice from ford mechanic sprayed wd40 around the flap and pushed a funnel in and out several times to lube that flap. i cleared codes and next day light came on again but was a different code p2196 rich air to fuel ratio. i have not noticed a change in drivability or fuel consumption. i do know i have about 50,000 miles on this engine that was replaced in the customer satisfaction program and im slowly loosing coolant again. wonder if the #2 plug is bad from coolant and not burning fuel properly causing that code to be set? any thoughts would be appreciated.
  2. Hello fellow fusion owners. in the last month i have had two strange things happen with my 17 fusion 1.5 eco. #1 just merged onto the turnpike with sport mode on in automatic. as i got to 80mph i switched of sport mode and set cruise. as soon as cruise ingaged trans shifted down to a lower gear. not sure what gear but tach pegged out at 8000 rpm. i tried using paddle shifter to up shift but did not respond second later the wrench light came on and lost power. i immediatly pulled to shoulder shut down engine and sat for 5 min. check fluid levels and restarted the car. runs fine and hasnt happened again. today i drove to gas station was on 1/4 tank after putting in fuel the engine started then died. i tried again and it turned over for several seconds started then died.did this 4 or 5 times before it finally started but had very low rpm until i gave it a little throttle. idle came up to normal and has not had a issue since. if anyone has had this issue or knows what might have caused these things to happen i would really appreciat your input. thanks heath
  3. Hey it looks great on your car. My pics didn't come out very good cause mine are a bright orange but look red in pictures
  4. Not sure what motor you have but if it's the 1.5 ecoboost not much out there performance wise! Wrapping is not difficult unless you get into tight curves. I tried several times to wrap my mirrors I finally gave up and painted them. I live on gravel road that has a bit of traffic and have rock chips all over my hood. I plan to wrap it also unfortunately I did not messure it very well and my piece is to small even if I heat and stretch it. Most places will sell precut stripes if that is what you like. If you want your own design look into knifeless tape. I used it on my son's Focus ses and gave him SS orange carbon fiber stripes. Nice thing is it's not permanent so if you get something out of place you pull it up gently and lay it back down. $55 did my stripes and also some interior accent pieces with a lot left over. Thanks for commenting if ya have any questions I can try and answer them just remember I'm a do it yourself guy to not a professional by any means!
  5. Looks like they did a good job! If you ever want to do some vinyl yourself check out vinyl wrap suppliers.com They sell 3m, Vvivid and a few other brands. I bought the Vvivid cause it was only brand I could find orange carbon fiber. Going to order new wrap soon since I failed to notice I bought interior wrap. All together for shipping and 5ft X 5ft sheet of vinyl was $60. Nice car by the way!
  6. Thank you! Yes there is a reason. First reason it was the first time I had used vinyl and at that time I did not have a heat gun. So I just couldn't get it to stretch enough to maintain a straight line. I didnt honestly realize how many curves and angels are in a Fusions exterior panels. So I just decided to let the vinyl follow the contours. If you look at the rear stripe it also pitches in towards center of car. I also had enough to do more stripes so bought a nice heat gun to do that but had so many positive comments about the stripes following the body line I decided to leave it! Thanks for commenting!
  7. No longer under warranty. Have there been issues you know of. I read alot of people do the cold air intake don't think I've heard of any issues. I know I have one on my Accord 3.0Vtech and it made a bit of difference on it but it's also a 98. New cars these days are nothing but a damn computer on steroids. Can't do anything wbesides spending a bunch for higher performance model.
  8. Had this done on my 2017 1.5eco. Issue I was informed of was the temp would rise drastically after ignition was turned off. They issued a customer satisfaction program to have ecm programmed to run for extended period of time after engine was shut off to keep temps down. Mine went in and they called to tell me #4 spark plug had welded itself to the head. They scheduled me for a new long block then they were able to remove spark plug and re-thread the head. So I got new block and all internal components $4000 worth at no charge! Took just over three weeks. My car had 60000+ miles so in this situation warranty is not necessary but no loaner car without a warranty! To resolve the temp issue they didn't use a different block installed same as factory but did the programming and now you can hear water pump run for about 2 minutes after ignition is turned off! Hope this helps!
  9. Nice Fusion! I almost traded in my 17 for a 20 Fusion close to or possibly the same color as yours. It had black wheels looked great but couldn't let mine go just love it to much!
  10. I did a search and didn't see much info and I've learned my lesson about aftermarket gimmicks thanks to a member from here so I thought I would get some responses. Cold air intake I know engines need to breath and the colder the air the more oxygen so it ignites better. So is it worth the $289 for cold air intake for the 2017 1.5eco? Also the throttle lag in these cars are terrible so I've looked at aftermarket direct connect controllers. Gimmick or do they truly help response time? I've considered a dyno tune but it's very expensive from what I can tell. Any responses or suggestions? Thanks I appreciate and respect the amount of knowledge here!
  11. I thought I would update the status of my Fusion in case anyone was interested. I called service manager at Ford. That day was the 11th day after original appointment. He told me that all parts had arrived at the shop except for one. The block had not arrived. I immediately asked if it was on back order and his reply was no atleast he hadn't been informed of one. He said the invoice for the block arrived 2 days ago so wasn't sure when it will get there. Tomorrow makes day 7 from last phone conversation (18th day total) and no update. I'd rather get a disappointing phone call than none at all. I will pass along info as I get it! Hope everyone has a great weekend!
  12. Well they were able to remove spark plug without damaging the threads. Ford has approved a new short block. Parts are on the way. He told me it was just a bit over $4000 that Ford is covering for the repairs! I really love my Fusion and I am very happy Ford is going to this extent to keep customers happy! I've been driving my 98 Honda accord ex with the Vtec v6. It's much faster than my Fusion by far but the Fusion is so comfortable and has all the bells and whistles can't wait to drive her again!
  13. If you notice it say vehicles outside bumper to bumper warranty must submit claim before starting repairs. It doesn't say anything about only repairing vehicles with manufacturers warranty or extended warranty. I found this on Ford owners web site under the csp # you gave me. Not say you are wrong but the way it is worded you are not required to have the warranty but have to have it approved first. It was submitted yesterday around noon. No call today but I will definitely keep you updated on the turn out!
