Rotate every time you change the oil. This is one of the things I hate about my wife's 06 Fusion. To make it handle really well they push the alignment of the rear tires into basically a race setting that makes it corner really well but also makes the tires wear really fast. I have had this discussion with a couple of alignment shops. They acknowledge that the setting is "wrong" and they could correct it to stop tire wear but they won't because of liability if you had a wreck and decided to claim it was due to their alignment job.
