  1. I know this is a Fusion forum but Im looking for answers. I have a 2016 Ford Escape SE 4WD. 33,000 miles. When starting the car, intermittently a fault will show on the screen, “steering assist fault”. The car will not crank, it is completely dead. However, if I leave it sit a few hours, there is no alarm and the car starts fine. This has made it a problem, we have had it towed to a dealer and by the time it got there the alarm was cleared. They said they couldnt make it duplicate, and after a week sent it back to us. Happened twice again after that. Took it dealership I bought it at. Told them to keep until they fix it. It has been a month and all they say is it hasnt done anything while they have had it. We have never lost power steering while driving, the car just will not start when the alarm appears. It then has cleared itself after some time and everything works fine. Anybody out there ever seen this before?
