  1. Engage because I like to see the electric motor power separate from the gas engine power. Bar graph with 60 min. interval.

I usually use Engage too so I can see what the electric engine is doing vs the gas engine. I use Empower to see the Accessories draw and the "EV mode readiness" green thermometer. I don't find the EV mode threshold indicator to be consistent enough because it grows and shrinks quite suddenly.

I leave the bar graph at 10 minutes on local trips and 20 or 60 minutes on the highway.

  2. Thanks a lot for your input. Yup, i would get 502A too, along with leather seating (i have one infant and one toddler). I have a Garmin Nuvi 775t for navigation.

Keep the input coming please...in addition, please tell me how satisfied you are with the Sony system.

BTW, is there anywhere i can look at the Sony system in detail?

I've compared it to the Prius JBL system and the Sony is much better. The Prius is a hatchback though so there is no rear deck to put the subwoofer(s) on.

Generally the FFH is getting better reviews than the Camry, because of its better mileage, looks, drive-ability, and MS Sync system.

Here's a video showing the Sony audio system in the Fusion.

  3. Hi WPWoodJr. :D Have not heard of any TSB's for this problem on the 2010's. Not a general problem with Fusions (or the Hybrid). Just bad luck. At least they work in the low and high settings (non-intermittent).

Have them take care of it on your next Service visit (or sooner if it is a major irritation).

Let us know what they find out.

    Good luck. :beerchug:

Thanks! I thought I saw a thread where someone else had this problem, but I can't find it.

  4. Last Saturday during the east coast rain storms I was driving home from Maine to Philadelphia and the windshield wipers stopped working. They would stop without warning and then sometime later start up again. I wasted a whole hour after one stop when I couldn't get them working. They seemed to keep working if I didn't use intermittent mode.

Has anyone heard of this being a more general problem with the FFH or is it just mine?

  5. Yep that was what I was looking for. I started reading the manual tonight and first up was trying to figure out if I should have a PIN somewhere in the car for the keyless. I was going to hit the EV stuff next. It seems that I am exactly where I should be with the battery charge. Thanks for that link.

The dealer gave me a PIN when he delivered the car.

  6. ...

One thing I have to learn about is how to best get the battery charged fully. I assume that master FFH drivers keep their batteries at the top of the scale most of the time. I could not get it there in my 120 mile drive home which consisted of city, town, and Interstate driving. I did start deceling(??new word??) much sooner and applying the brakes for much longer periods of time. But I will need to do some heavy research like you have and understand what the masses do.

Check out this thread on battery charge.

  7. 63.x MPG, wow ! - How was (is) the pine tree state ?

It's been gorgeous here since last weekend when I got here until today, when the fog rolled in. Rain due tomorrow and Sunday too. In June and July, I'm told there was rain almost every day.

That 63.x figure isn't realistic for daily commutes, I was driving specifically to optimize mpg.

  8. Congratulations, perhaps you should check to see if you've set a record! I drove 700 miles total last year, but I'm not bragging about it. I do believe that it does take a few miles for a new car to break in, suspension parts included, and not all cars are equal.

Perhaps you've driven enough hard riding cars to accept them without question. My Fusion Hybrid is my first ever. Happily, things are softening up a bit and becoming more acceptable.

When I read in this forum about "floaters," and have Lincoln Town cars and such compared to a high performance 71 T-Bird with a heavy duty suspension, I wonder how much experience the writers have.

My dad and I made many trips to Las Vegas, a distance of over thirteen hundred miles with usually one or two pit stops in his "floater!"

I had a 1998 Audi A6 before the FFH and wrote about how its suspension was softer here, so like you I was surprised by the harder ride on the FFH. However, unlike you I didn't go on to say, "I shall purchase a car that doesn't snap my spine on every tar strip, manhole cover and cigarett but it runs over. This is extreme suspension design gone crazy! I have cancelled all long trips in the immediate future........................"

  9. ...

Come the first of 2010, my Hybrid will be in someone elses driveway, that's for sure. I shall purchase a car that doesn't snap my spine on every tar strip, manhole cover and cigarett but it runs over. This is extreme suspension design gone crazy! I have cancelled all long trips in the immediate future........................

Oh, come on! I just drove 600 miles (11.5 hours with stops) up to Maine and although I agree the suspension is not cushy the ride stiffness was not even a factor that I noticed. In fact, I drove the whole trip myself and was quite pleased with the overall comfort of my FFH.

  10. Nice! Glad it worked out. I hope to see you on the road sometime. A blue Ford Fusion pulled in front of me on the highway on the way up to Maine and I thought it looked like it had the hybrid badge, so I inched up behind it to confirm, then gave him a little honk. How many do you figure are on the road now, maybe 7500?

  11. Tint your vehicle and you'll experience less AC demand during your drive. One of the bigger selling points for ceramic tints is less UV and heat which means less AC demand, UV damage to your interior, and less UV exposure to car occupants.

    What's a ceramic tint?

  12. Actually its much easier than I realized to take the blade off. You don't have to take the housing apart at all. The blade unscrews from the hinge via two small philips head screws. Just discovered this the other day when playing with the key.

  13. I am pretty sure the separate fob for the remote start is a different frequency. I have it and there is a little antenna at the top of the windshield to the right of the mirror for the remote start. (Note that it's range if far greater then the entry key fob.)

But the real reason for this is a question. I looked at artiways pages on e-bay and these keys are listed for 07 08 & 09. No mention of 2010. I have a 2010 FFH and was wondering if anyone has successfully got it to work. I would think so, since there is no difference in the keys the dealer sells, but I am just looking for a bit of assurance before I order one.

    Mine's a 2010.
