  1. I got the update done on my 2010 a few weeks ago. Probably have about 300 miles on it now and getting better gas mileage than ever. I used to have a long term average of 38.6 or less in the last few months, but now it's over 39. On a 125 mile round trip, I got 41.9 each way, so it seems something worked differently for me than for some others. I had done the battery reset a few years ago and just left it when I took it to the dealer. They had the car for about 2 1/2 hours.
  2. My fix turned out to be having the steering gear assembly replaced like Shawnm65 above. It cost me $2300.00 at the Ford dealer. Pep Boys wouldn't touch it. ?
  3. My power steering assist fault seems to be fixed. Our 2010 Fusion Hybrid had a squeak coming from the front passenger side. I thought it must be the strut. The car also had started having some vibration when taking off . Turns out it was the strut plus one of the engine mounts was bad. Once I got those replaced the power steering fault disappeared. It's been a couple of months with no problem and the squeak and vibration are gone as well. Evidently the vibration can cause the steering fault.
  4. When I saw this topic pop up on my search results I was hopeful for an answer, but I see there's nothing there yet. I have a 2010 Fusion Hybrid which gives this error code intermittently and rarely. After shutting off and restarting the car, it goes away and the steering works normally. Sure would like to understand what's going on. Will be watching this thread.
  5. Many thanks for this post. Our mileage continually declined to the low 30s. Last night, I followed these instructions (with some trepidation that I would accidentally click something wrong) and now we're back to higher mileage. Today, my wife got upper 30s and 40s while commuting. Like others, I heard the clicking in the battery compartment when it kicked in. First trip and EV mode was back to normal! YESSS!!
