  1. Yeah I think you got what I was seeing there. So it’s frustrating to say the least. I’ve been around turbo charged cars most of my life and never have I’ve seen these kind of issues. But then again most of those were Toyotas back in the 80s-90s lol. well I still got some time as she’s got a back up and I’m trying to get a few things lined out here at my house before I pull his car in and either swap a motor or try to replace the head gasket. It is unfortunately looking like I’m going to Band-Aid it and we’re going to trade it off. I hate to say that it’s put a bad taste in my mouth for Ford as They have been a great vehicle for me over the past several years. Doubt I’ll ever have another “Ecobust” lol
  2. Honestly the only thing I have in front of me is a difference in block design...I’ll try to attach it. As per my post I had a Ford master mechanic tell me just head gasket would not work.... he saw one come in right after it was done. I’m still on the fence on trying that route myself. As you can see from the photo that looks like there are some reliefs cut from casting in the old design. I am assuming that is the problem point of the whole “coolant in cylinder” issue. I tried to find the TSB, but no luck...also it seems Ford can’t pin down the exact model and year range of this issue. Also coming from that mechanic his words were “Ford knows about this issue, and because most failed inside warranty period they are not going to do anything about it.” So that is the extent of what I know at the moment.
  3. Hello my girlfriends 2016 Fusion bit the dust at 72k. I’m looking for advice. She purchased it a couple years (I think) ago with around 55k at an independent dealership. I feel somewhat responsible since I recommended this car because to be honest I was beating the drum for Ford and their little line of turbo engines I thought they were going to be great since the one from the 80s was a fantastic little motor. Anyway fast forward now to 72,000 miles and the only real issue I had was EVAP problem that took me a little bit to trace down but overall has been a good car. Long story short I’m getting coolant into number 4 cylinder. She doesn’t beat on the car she just goes back-and-forth to work and runs her kid around to school functions. My big concern is after research there is a block issue that basically means you have to replace Long Block even a Ford tech told me that replacing the head gasket would be a waste of time. I was told that Ford knew about this but because most of them failed within the warranty period they are not gonna do anything about it. Now here is my issue a new long block is like a 5-6k and that is asinine I mean really you can get a V-8 for that kind of money. Anyway I’m not going to put 6k plus my labor into a stock replacement on a 10k car. I am mechanically inclined I can replace the head gasket, I can change an engine... I’m looking for a more cost-effective option because right now I’m about to Band-Aid it up and trade it off. I would rather not do that because the car is paid for and we don’t wanna get into a payment situation but I don’t also want to fix something that’s going to prematurely break again under normal use. It seems that Ford released a new updated block but I can’t figure out if it actually came out in cars because it seems to be that this is affecting all the way up to the 2019 model line. I would like to pick up a used engine somewhere that would be a good block and just replace it. I would be fine with doing that. I don’t want one that is just gonna blow another head gasket because of a block issue. It just seems like I would be fighting a losing battle. So here’s my question What does everyone think the most cost-effective option is? I don’t mind swapping the whole engine, sometimes I think I would rather do that vs breaking it apart and replacing the head gasket LOL. Anyway if anybody knows a way to identify the “better” 2.0 block or even if I could swap a 2.3 I would do that if that would be feasible. Any help would be appreciated guys I just need to know which way to go before I tear into it and decide if we’re going to trade it off.... I would much rather fix it if I could do it for a reasonable cost. Thanks in advance
