  1. I got a chance to look at some Weathertech floor mats next to my Husky Weatherbeaters. Other car was a Toyota Rav4. They're not hugely different. The Weathertechs have an actual clip thing that engages the hardware on the driver's side in the Toyota. Not sure whether that is a Weathertech thing or specific to the mats for that vehicle. My Husky mats just have a bump over the floor hardware on driver's side. Doesn't seem to matter. The Huskies are staying in place well. Now that they've been in the car a few weeks, they're conforming better to the floor shape. The creases from being packed in boxes for shipping - more an issue on the trunk liner than the interior mats - are pretty much gone. These Husky Weatherbeaters are much better than the Lloyd mats that were all I could find for my previous car (Mercury Grand Marquis). The Lloyd mats didn't protect anything but the carpet directly below one's feet. They didn't have lips, so did nothing to contain dirt or water.
  2. Going to be a couple of days. LKQ stated they pulled the backup camera from the Fusion hybrid, but it failed testing. They're getting me another one, from a different yard, already tested as good. That's nice. I didn't know they were going to test it, kinda figured it was as-is, at my own risk given the price ($35).
  3. Today, bought a backup camera (plus "sensors," we'll see what I actually get) from a junked 2014 Fushion hybrid. It was LKQ Online, so I have to wait for them to pull the parts. They couldn't give me a part # or photo for the camera, since it was still installed in the junked car. But I'm pretty sure it will be the right one. Can get an immediate refund if not.
  4. Great news! I do have one of the compatible 4" Sync screens, part # ES7T-18B955-CB, even though my Fusion is a very early 2014 model (January build). Source: https://www.4dtech.com/ford-camera-input-harness-for-sync-1-4-screen/ 4DTech's video was very helpful for pulling the dash apart enough to get that part #: That makes life a whole lot easier!
  5. I also have the Husky mats, just got them for my 2014 Fusion SE. Got the cargo mat for the trunk as well. I live in the desert. It's nice that I can simply dump out the mats now and then, to get rid of the buildup of dust and sand, rather than having to vacuum or shampoo stuff out of the carpet. I chose the Tan color to match the upholstery, vs. black. Nothing really wrong with either color, but I felt the black mats (though matching the car's carpet) would have shown dust more easily and thus always would look dirty. It was tough to choose among Husky, Weathertech, and the 3D Maxpider floor mats. I don't think any of them would be a bad choice. However, 3D Maxpider doesn't offer a trunk mat for the Fusion. No one offered any really good floor mats for my old car, a Mercury Grand Marquis. The best I could find were Lloyd's, and they weren't great.
  6. Thanks. From what I'm reading, it looks like basically the same camera was used in a few different Ford models, for example that one listed for the 2013-2015 Explorer. So, if my Sync display is on the "good" list at 4dtech, I'll probably grab that $89 used Explorer camera off eBay & give 'er a go.
  7. The 4" Sync screen built into the car. This is supposedly do-able, given that you get the camera and the wiring harness, and have the correct part no. Sync screen (as described at 4dTech: 4dTech info on compatible SYNC screens for adding OEM backup camera). I still need to pull my screen out of the dash to verify part number. You also have to flip a bit in the computer. You can either buy a special device from 4dtech, or do it in Forscan. There's at least one member on the Forscan forums who says he got all this to work: https://forscan.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=5710&p=42788&hilit=fusion+backup+camera#p42788 No word yet on where he got the camera itself. Wouldn't surprise me if there were some cross-compatibility on the cameras. The one for 2013-2015 Ford Explorers looks very similar.
  8. Has anyone here succeeded in adding a backup camera to a 2013-2016 Fusion? I have a 2014 Fusion SE, but it came with very minimal gadgets. No technology package. No parking sensors, no backup camera. Where does one get the camera? I have had no luck with the junkyard route. There simply aren't any crashed Fusions newer than 2010 in my local U-Pull. On eBay there's this thing: eBay replacement trunk lid bezel w/camera but no clue whether it's any good. I've read that the Dorman camera (part # 590433) is not very good. 4dTech sells the needed wiring harness to add a camera to a 2014 Fusion, but not the camera itself. Is there a backup camera found in another Ford vehicle that would work in the Fusion? If so, I might have a better chance of finding a donor car in the junkyard. Is a new camera from Ford parts the only option?
  9. FWIW, one of the fuses that's marked "Unused - Spare" in the owner's manual, is not in fact an unused spare. I didn't bother figuring out exactly which one it was, but when I pulled one of either the 5A or 10A "spare" fuses, my trunk stopped opening. I mean in the sense that the trunk release mechanism wasn't getting any power. Pressing trunk release either on the remote or dash only made the turn signal repeaters both blink in the forlorn "something's broken, boss!" mode. I replaced both supposedly "spare" fuses and bought some actual spares. Forward dashcam is now up and running.
  10. OK, got it worked out. FWIW this video from the UK is pretty helpful. While a 2017 Mondeo isn't exactly the same, it seems to share the fuse panel layout of my 2014 Fusion. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TiRtl864Y7Y There is exactly one switched circuit to be found in the panel, helpfully marked "Delayed Accessory" (#23, 10A). For grounding, I'll probably use the same bolt as the grounding strap you can see as soon as you get the under-dash panel open. Photo later to illustrate.
  11. Halfway through installing the hardwire power harness for the dashcam. Some thoughts: If you use fuse taps, a lot of the micro fuses on the right won't work, because the fuse tap holder gets in the way. The fuses marked "Spare" in the owner's manual are unpowered (so far), so those slots are out too. Moonroof slot doesn't work. I don't have one, so apparently there's not a complete circuit. No power on that slot, either without or with key on.
  12. Got fob yesterday. FWIW, the fob of that brand (VOFONO) is now out of stock on Amazon, with no info on possible re-stock. It might be discontinued. That's unfortunate if you still need a spare fob, because it was the best price (about $40) I could find anywhere. The hard part was getting the physical key (switchblade part) cut to turn the ignition. It requires a special key cutting machine, with which the locksmith had multiple problems. He did a couple of test cuts before cutting the blank on my new fob. Took him 3 tries to get a good cut. They charged $35 for the cutting, which isn't as cheap as an ordinary house key, but isn't totally crazy. That's ~$75 for the fob + cutting. Certainly that's way less than a dealer would have charged. They gave me one of the failed keys for no extra charge. It was a different pattern than the ignition key, and will only open the glove box. That's perfect, because I wanted a mechanical-only key copy, so that I could for example lock and unlock the glove box without needing to take the fob key out of the ignition. Programming the new fob was very easy. It works just as advertised, provided you have 2 already-working keys. Some reviews of the VOFONO fob state that the remote control range isn't as good as for an OEM fob, but I can't say whether that's true. Both OEM and VOFONO fobs worked from around 20 feet away, which is good enough most of the time.
  13. Facing this issue with my 2014 right now. My main gripe with dashcam install is that access to the fuse panel is...well, painful! I don't have a moonroof/sunroof, so I'll probably use that one for my switched source.
  14. So, has anyone added the Gentex auto-dim mirror to their 2014 Fusion? I really liked the auto-dimming rearview mirror in my Mercury Grand Marquis. Somewhat missing it in the 2014 Fusion SE I just picked up. I'll be installing a dashcam system pretty soon. Perhaps I'll see whether the required wiring for the auto-dim mirror is indeed present, while I'm poking around in the headliner
