  1. Thank you ! I will call the dealership about this TSB thing first and see if they know anything and if not I'll call compustar or maybe the other way around because compustar might send me to the dealership anyway... who knows. I'll let you know. Thanks again.
  2. Oh ok. Thank you for that..I will contact my dealership then and see if they can reprogram it to allow the climate control to work during remote start. Mine doesn't blow at all or do anything when the remote start is used until the key is put into the ignition but I did notice the rear window defroster must have been on because the back window was the only melted spot on the whole car. At over $300 not including installation the whole point of this starter was to have a nice warm car that was fully defrosted and had no snow or ice on it in the winter or was nice and cool in the summer BEFORE we get it or someone runs the key out to the car so there's no point in having it if the climate control won't work when it's started remotely. That particular default setting seems like one of the LEAST though out ones I've heard of. Returning to the user's last settings and allowing the driver to set what they want the climate control to do next when the car is started seems like a no brainer and my sister and my sons cars do exactly that !! I love my car but this is ridiculous.
  3. Compustar is the brand of remote starter I have. It required the kit from compustar, a car make/ model specific wiring harness, and one other little part that my dad had with him for all three vehicles and gave the guy when we dropped the car off that I never saw so I don't know what part it was... maybe a relay or something ? Im thinking I'll need to call best buy and let them know it's not letting me use the climate control until the key is inserted but I don't know what they can do it there settings don't offer you any control over that. I was hoping it was something I was doing wrong or could fix easily.
  4. I'll find the box real quick and tell you the brand and model of remote starter it was... and it did come with its own key fob starter but the guy at best buy said it also made my car think it had a factory installed remote start as well so my regular key fob worked as well. My sister has a brand new Subaru outback and my son has a brand new Nissan SUV (can't remember model) and they both got the same brand I got off remote start and neither of their own fobs work nor do they have any problems with their heat coming right on. Sorry about the reference to hating computers..I know I wouldn't have the starter if it weren't for them I'm just frustrated. It does state in my manual that the default setting for factory remote starters it that the climate control is set to 72 degrees and you have to go into the settings and change the "remote start" settings to have the climate control work or not and what parameters you want set. Don't have seat warmers or anything fancy like that so that's not part of the problem. But when I go to the settings in my car there is no "remote start" option to set anything under because it's aftermarket even though it says when I get it "place key in ignition" as if it knows I've got the starter and my regular key fob works. The car just needs to have the remote start in the settings menu and I will be able to have the climate control work but is that a dealership issue or a best buy installer issue or is there ANYTHING I can do without them ? Shouldn't best buy have known that issue and either mentioned it or fixed it ? Also this brand of remote starter has a 30 minute setting as well because I had him set it to 30 minutes before shut off since it takes my teens longer than 15 minutes to get out the door some days...lol. I'll take a photo of the box and put it on here.
  5. Hello anyone who can help me..I got a remote start for my 2014 Ford Fusion as a Christmas present because I have no garage and wanted to heat my car up and melt ice and snow without going out in the weather so my wonderful parents bought all of us kids and my son (their grandson) a remote starter and arranged the installations at Best Buy for each of us! Well I just got mine done finally and even my key fob for the door locks works to start my car now if I hit lock and unlock back and forth. Anyway... long story short I start my car from in the house with the heater turned on to defrost the windows... go out 15 minutes later and the heat isn't on, windows are still covered with ice, but when I put the key in the ignition the heat comes on with wonderful heat !! I checked the book and if you HAVE a factory remote start you can go into settings and change this to have the heat come on before the key is inserted I believe but what am I supposed to do if it's an aftermarket remote start and I have no option for that in my settings ?? Computers on cars have ruined even the simplest functions now days. I want the heat on in my car WHEN I START IT !! Not when I get in with the key and I'm supposed to have a defrosted car already and be going !! HELP please guys. There has to be a way you can fix this so my heat comes on when the car starts even without the factory remote start !!!
