  1. 130K miles and still going strong with my 2010 Fusion Hybrid. 38 to 40 mpg. Thanks again Allen84. You are a WIZARD!
  2. Thanks to everybody concerning my question. Just needed some confirmation as to the restorative ability of my 2010 Fusion Hybrid. I agree in that I can't drive this like a non hybrid. There is definitely a technique to both the acceleration and the braking that is different than the non hybrids.
  3. Overall my 2010 Fusion Hybrid is working well with the restoration with the able assistance of allen84. But here's the thing. It restores the hybrid battery as expected when I am in the restorative braking mode. However when I gently accelerate it jumps out of regeneration as indicated with the diamond at the top of the battery gauge disappearing. As a result, normal driving at 50 mph or above does not restore the hybrid battery much beyond halfway up the battery gauge, then stops and never tops off the hybrid battery to the full mark at the top. So when I come to city traffic I cannot restore it enough when i brake to keep up and the vehicle falls out of EV mode once the batter level falls to about 1/3, then I have to feather the accelerator pedal to keep it in EV. Then with the use of the EV mode, eventually of course I am back on gas engine. My overall is only 34 mpg on a tank of gas as I live in a rural area and don't do a lot of city driving. But like I said, the main problem is that normal driving at 50 mph or above does not result in the hybrid battery level getting up to any more than half way up the battery dial and never tops off. What could I be doing wrong? I am hoping that I could be able to get the average mpg up to around 40 mpg on a tank. Any suggestions would be appreciated and keep in mind I am not a bonafide techy....Thanks in advance. Dean Peterson Isle MN
  4. So @asicking and @AdeeI do not get more than 38 mpg average. How do I set the MILEAGE TRACKER. don't mean to be ignorant. Just looking for some advice. Thanks in advance.
  5. For everyone's information, my 2010 Ford Fusion continues to work flawlessly following "the fix" thanks to Allen. Mine now has 96,000 miles on it and I continue to get between 37 and 39 MPG combined with over 40mpg around the city. I am conscientious about both braking to regenerate the hybrid battery and to accelerate slower than normal to enable when possible to keep in EV mode up to and sometimes exceeding 40 mph depending upon terrain (and the patience of the guy behind me in the jacked up Ford F150 blinking his lights on and off).. I have simply found that I have to drive this care differently than a normal car if I want to realize the efficiencies of a hybrid. Best to all.
  6. Just a suggestion. I had a similar problem as I was tech challenged. I e-mailed Allen personally and he assisted me online. I do not know if he would do this for others or not but I gave him a donation in a reasonable amount by cashiers check to do so. I reasoned that either I donate / gift him him or I pay Ford so I pai sent my donation to Allen. Again, you may want to contact him directly and see if he can give you some direct help. I highly recommend you at least contact him and ask.
  7. I have applied the fix from Allen and he assisted me in doing so. He is an amazing person. I must report that my 2010 Fusion Hybrid continues to perform very well 3 months post fix. No halting or stutter starts. Stays in EV up to the low 40 mph range. My combined mph stays around 39 mph as I concentrate on how to both properly brake to regenerate the hybrid battery as well as a slow deliberate responsible acceleration from stops. Say what you will both pro and con concerning the fix. It has worked for me. I have 95,000 miles on my hybrid and purchased it at a bargain from someone who had settled for a vehicle that mostly ran on the gas engine which defeated the purpose of even having a hybrid.. The prior owner showed no interest in applying the fix. Will the fix hold for the long term? Who knows?. I think it will and am currently enjoying both the economy and performance of my vehicle. There you are. You are correct. Allen84's "fix" worked well for me and he even helped me remotely to get the fix done. He is a great person. The Fusion Hybrid is getting 39 mpg now combined. Around town at more than 40 mpg with regenerative braking now working well this vehicle is working as it should at this time. Of course you have to know how to drive this hybrid by braking to regenerate as much as possible and moving forward from stops with an easy accelerator (assuming the guy behind you does not get antsy) to stay in EV as much as possible. This car is fun to drive now especially as I continue to pass by my local gas station again and again without stopping.
  8. Allen --------------- Many thanks for helping me through this today. The check is (yes it is) in the mail. You are an amazing and intelligent person. Nice corresponding with you .....so happy that I have my EV mode back. It was so much fun to drive this hybrid again after the FIX. I was out on the roadway re-learning how to drive this hybrid and gone so long my wife thought I had taken a stop at Home Depot. Not true. Just amazed to see the performance change it was difficult to turn in to the driveway....Thanks again Allen.
  9. Allen84 ------------ Thank you so much for your time. Greetings from locked down Minnesota. I have a 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid with about 94000 miles on it. As a matter of history, i am getting 29 mpg on my current tank. I try to be as easy on the gas pedal as possible. The hybrid battery seems to be solid and seems to charge and discharge as it it supposed to. The symptom I am having is that it only goes in to EV mode when I am braking to come to a stop light. Then from time to time it will stay on when I am at the stop light but that is it. Most times it stays on gas engine mode. When it stays in EV mode as i come to a stop and stays on, as soon as I gently accelerate forward and the EV goes off and I am back in gas engine mode. So as a result, I am not economizing and I am putting more gasoline end products in to the air than I have to. As a result, my search for a solution brought me to your forum post and thank you again for figuring this out. I am a 69 year old gent who has only fair computer skills so I am hesitant to try this my self, having a mild fear that I will do damage to my black beauty. I simply love this vehicle's bells and whistles. The ride is a little stiff but other things make up for it. So any way, if we could do this Saturday or Sunday go ahead and name the time and I will be here. Also, can you post your address for those on this post who want to send you a gift card in appreciation for your time. Feel free to suggest how much of a gift card you want me to send to you. Also, let me know what you want to do in preparation for the FIX and I will confirm when it has been done. Then give me a time (CST) this weekend as to when you want me on line. I continue to be fully employed so time would be tight on Friday. Also text me if you would be so kind so we have a backup portal on which to communicate in case I fumble the hand off. Again, if you would text me or call me at (763) 742-4747 that would be great. Hats off to you for what you have had the intellect and curiosity to uncover for the rest of the Ford Fusion Hybrid community. We are eternally grateful. Dean Peterson Woodbury MN
  10. Allen84 -------------- I am such a computer illiterate. Can you remote access my laptop once I get the Anydesk or Teamviewer set up at some time in the near futue? I would gladly send you a $25 gift card for your time. I have purchased the OBDII from Amazon as you have suggested but that is all. I have not downloaded the ForScan program. Like some others, I do not want to mess this thing up if I push the wrong button if you know what I mean. Dean Peterson Woodbury MN (763) 742-4747 if you want to chat.
  11. I have been reading this forum from start to finish while I was waiting for my equipment to arrive from Amazon. Will try the "fix" this weekend when the weather warms up a little here in the Minneapolis / St Paul MN area. Will let you know what happens. Just bought this 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid with 93,000 miles on it for $5500 from a private party. Thought even before I bought it that the seller knew of the underperforming EV /Hybrid system and did no know how to address the problem. I currently get 30MPG (disappointing) combined and the EV mode only comes on at a stop light and then disappears completely while driving. I can see the Hybrid battery system kicking in off and on as I go up and down hills and the battery itself stays almost always near the fully charged level. So that is why I ended up here as I knew that if the hybrid battery was nearly charged, why was it not being utilized. Then I found Allen's "fix" and now it seems to make sense. I will keep you all advised of my findings next week after i get the program uploaded from Forescan and the procedure completed.
