So it is the 2.3L and yes, the heater works fine. I originally thought the same thing, that the thermostat was stuck open. But, even on out coldest days (I live in the upper mountains of Utah, so it gets pretty cold.) The heater is just fine. As far as troubleshooting, there are no codes, no lights, car runs just fine, though the idle is a bit high. (around 1,250) The gauge itself appears to be working. As I mentioned, during the "boot up" it swings to the top and comes back down like the others. It has been more of logical elimination of things it could be.
