  1. I have a 2016 Fusion SE with the 2.5L naturally aspirated engine. While attempting to reverse, the car will sometimes violently slam into gear then start backing up. The first dealer I went to reprogrammed the PCM (44,000 miles), but the car continued to bang into gear. The second dealer rebuilt the transmission (46,000 miles). At 51,000 miles, the transmission has begun to slip and slam into gear while attempting to reverse yet again. Does anyone have any idea what can be causing this? Sometimes, while putting the car into reverse, rather than slamming into gear, it simply refuses to move for a few seconds then starts backing up. The shifting is so erratic that when I was backing out of a spot in a parking garage it felt like I rear-ended someone. It's absolutely embarrassing to back my car in and have people stare as it shudders and flys backward. There is a service bulletin for this issue. Communication Number: TSB 16-0125, Date: 2016-09-21 Category: 103000 POWER TRAIN: AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION Summary: Some 2016 Fusion and Escape vehicles equipped with 2.5L engine may experience a delayed engagement/shudder during a drive to reverse shift. This condition occurs when the throttle is applied during reverse engagement. https://imgur.com/09xPHfc
