  1. I just got off the phone wirh Blue Ox who makes our Patriot II auxiliary braking system. They verified that a direct line to the cars battery with a 5 amp inline fuse would be a solid solution and that a day's travel would not discharge the cars battery enough to cause any difficulties. Thanks all for the helpful conversation.
  2. I have considered this but the only concern that leaves is if the aux braking system would discharge the battery too much during a days travel. I can get a battery charge system that'll charge the battery from the coach underway but that's another expense that may well be required. In our Edge they wired a line from the coach connection but it went dead every time the coach engine was shut off. Then we had to open up the Edge to restart the aux braking system after the coach was restarted. This had to be done because the Edge required a battery disconnect to flat tow.
  3. Thank you droids1 for clarifying the matter. I was just about to do so myself. Further info for the curious go to: https://www.motorhome.com/download-dinghy-guides/ The only issue I am having to overcome is the accessory 12 volt socket is automatically turning off about 30 minutes or so after shutting the engine off (per se as this is an hybrid). This action removes power to our auxiliary braking system.
  4. January our '15 Edge Titanium was totaled impacting a Silverado that turned in front of us. The excellent safety features in the Edge saved our lives! We replaced our beloved Edge with this Fusion. Our choices were limited to vehicles that can be flat towed behind our motorhome. This Fusion is excellent for this with only one minor glitch. The 12 volt accessory taps in the console shut off about 40 minutes after the ignition is shut off. This 12 volt tap is used to power our auxiliary braking system. Other than that the Fusion is a great car for all our needs.
