  1. With the K&N Cold Air Intake not being recommended, I still wanted something to replace the drop-in factory filter which I felt was restrictive. I ended up with an aFe high performance air filter which flows better than a K&N but is washable and never needs re-oiling. Mid-range and top-end acceleration definitely feel stronger and smoother now. Below is a picture of it next to the stock Motorcraft filter.
  2. Ordered new "White Knight" lug nuts and changed this out this past weekend. Thankfully, none of the nuts were swollen but I figure its good preventative maintenance nonetheless!
  3. Thanks for the input. Tires are OEM Goodyear Eagle RS-A that were new when I bought the car a year ago. They're classified as "High Performance All Season" so not cheap tires by any means. On my last sports car I used BF Goodrich G-Force Sport tires which are considered as "Ultra High Performance Summer" so I may go back to them when the Goodyears wear out.
  4. This is interesting. I wonder if the 19" Fusion or Mustang wheels would similarly fit my 2012 Fusion Sport? The factory 18s spin like crazy even on dry pavment, much less when it's wet.
  5. Have had my Fusion a year and its time for the 10,000-mile tire rotation. I'm glad I saw this before I attempted to do it. At least I can check them first and order new lug nuts if necessary!
  6. Sorry to hear the misfortune with your Fusion, but it sounds like the majority of the problems may have stemmed from the previous owner who wrecked it. Nevertheless, I'm sure you'll enjoy the Hyundai as my wife has a 2015 Santa Fe Sport and she has really likes it. The turbo 2.0 four in it is rated at 265hp, almost exactly the same as my 2010 Fusion Sport. In 2019, Hyundai replaced the engine due to a recall and provided with us with a rental car for three months while it was in the shop. I certainly can't say the same about Ford who left us high-and-dry when the CVT in our Freestyle went out at 50,000 miles! In short, Hyundai's a great company and I have every confidence in their cars.
  7. Love the white on tan. Wish I could have gotten my 2010 Sport in that color. GLWS!
  8. Nice video. I've been thinking of getting a dash cam for some time and this setup seems pretty inexpensive and straight forward.
  9. I bought my 2010 Sport last year with 34,000 miles and I now have 44,000 on it. The dealer put brand new OEM Eagle RS-A tires on it and all I've had to replace was the battery (which was from 2014).
  10. I had the exact same issue on our old 2006 Ford Freestyle. It turned out it was the Scroll Compressor Control Valve. Here's the thread if you're interested: https://www.myfordfreestyle.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3758 This fix lasted about a year, which was long enough to get us through the summer and then trade it in. Good luck!
  11. Not to hijack the thread, but I'm having just the opposite issue. My driver side A-pillar has come unglued at the top and won't stay down. I tried some superglue to no avail. Short of taking it to the dealer, is there any other type of adhesive I can use to make it stick?
  12. I wanted to report back that a lot of the original drone has mellowed and it's not as obtrusive now. However, I still feel compelled to maybe swap the resonator for a straight pipe in hopes of improving the sound.
  13. I would also add that if it has not been done recently, basic maintenance such as spark plugs, fuel filter, air filter, etc. can also help improve fuel efficiency.
  14. It's a 2010 Sport that I purchased last year from the first owner and the glass looks original. It has the Ford stamp on it so it's not a lesser-quality replacement windshield. The good new is that I took it to a local glass shop today and they fixed it in ten minutes for $20 while I waited in the guest area. I realize I could have bought one of those fix-it packages from a car parts store, but I wanted it done professionally. I attempted to just "live without it" since I don't ever use the compass, but the lack of a backup camera is what convinced me otherwise.
  15. I've owned a lot of cars in my life, but today was the first time I've ever had a mirror fall from my windshield! It was undeniably hot in my Fusion this afternoon, but I've had other cars in hotter weather and this never happened. I'm curious if this is just my shitty luck, or have other Fusions had the same thing happen?
  16. I had the same issue recently and it was the battery. Ford dealer was too busy to help me so I went to Advance Auto and picked up a new Diehard battery. The original battery must have been slowly dying for some time, because I can't believe how fast my starter kicks over now.
  17. I'm noticing these all look like "Rust Belt" cars so I'm wondering if that's the primary issue (i.e. salt on the roads)? The paint on my 2010 Fusion looks great and doesn't have any rust on it.
  18. I spotted a 2019 Fusion Sport in Rich Copper today and it was absolutely gorgeous! I researched it and learned that 2019 was the only year for that beautiful color. Furthermore, most of the pictures I've come across just don't do it justice. I'm hoping when the pandemic finally passes and prices come back to earth, I can find a reasonably priced, low-mileage, one-owner example!
  19. I have not taken my Sport into the dealership to have the airbag recall done, but my co-worker just had the airbags replaced on his 2012 Mustang GT and hasn't had any issues.
  20. My first oil change is coming up and I was perusing different offerings when I stumbled across this $250 K&N Lifetime Billet oil filter! https://www.knfilters.com/ss-2011-oil-filter-billet I calculated that if I keep the Sport for the next 75,000 miles until I hit 100,000 (changing the oil every 5,000 miles) and at $15 for a disposable K&N filter, it would cost almost the same as buying the $250 lifetime filter. I also found a review here that explains how billet oil filters potentially offer better filtration than conventional ones: https://www.enginelabs.com/tech-stories/a-close-look-into-billet-oil-filters/ Just curious if anyone here has ever used a billet filter?
  21. UPDATE: It's been a month and it hasn't reared its ugly head again, so it thankfully must have been a fluke. And with 93 octane going for around $3.50/gallon in my area (and forecasted to keep going up) I'm really glad I can run 87!
  22. Congrats on the new ride! Is that maybe Utah? My current pic is from Mississippi where it rarely ever snows!
  23. My last car had a catless long-tube header on it so I was dismayed when I couldn't find any headers for my Fusion Sport. Despite that, I quite enjoy not having to constantly clean the soot off my tail pipes and I don't miss the eye-watering exhaust fumes. But even with a Magnaflow cat-back exhaust, I do wish it sounded better.
  24. Ford sure seems to love dead pedals. I can remember buying a brand new 2006 Freestyle and was surprised that it had a dead pedal. Conversely, I've had far sportier cars that weren't equipped with dead pedals!
