  1. Thanks, I always buy Top Tier gasoline- usually Chevron, or if it's not available, Shell. Plugs are 10 years old, but only have 37K on them. I'll continue to monitor it, but was thinking it could also be the nasty "Winter Blend" gas. I've had issue in the past with my other sports cars also pinging during the winter months even when running 93 octane.
  2. Last night, I went WOT to pass a slow-moving vehicle when I detected a brief pinging that sounded like detonation. Of course, the manual recommends 87 octane, but I'm wondering if I might possibly benefit from some 89 given the circumstances. I'm also thinking it could be just a bad batch of gas. Just curious if anyone else has experienced this?
  3. I'm rather new to the forum, just getting my 2010 Fusion Sport three months ago. I've always liked the Fusion and we even looked at getting a V6 model in 2006. Ultimately, we settled on a Freestyle since it had more room for our expanding family. Fast-forward almost 15 years later and I'm finally driving a V6 Fusion and it has exceeded my expectations. I went through my "Mid-Life Crisis" phase with a Ferrari and Corvette, but quite honestly, they were terrible, uncomfortable cars. My daily-driven Fusion is a much more "complete" car, offering a smooth ride, plenty of room, and is immensely more reliable and cheaper to maintain. If I continue to enjoy this Fusion, I'm looking to upgrade to a 2017 Sport in the next couple years.
  4. Selling my brand new Steeda V6 Cold Air Intake and throttle body spacer for $300 with free insured shipping. This is a great deal and a $100 savings over purchasing the parts on Steeda.com.
  5. Thanks, it is taking a little getting used to. I've got a 40 mile highway commute daily, so I had some time last night and this morning to assess it. There seems to be a lot of drone present which I didn't expect from such a premium-priced system. The exhaust note is indeed deeper, but not necessarily clearer, if that makes sense. Coming from cars with catless, long-tube headers, I can't help but feel the Fusion's converters and manifolds are suppressing a lot of the engine's natural exhaust note. Unfortunately, I feel hamstrung that there are no options for opening up the exhaust and letting the 3.5 Duratec really exhale. Given the $1000+ I spent on the Magnaflow for the purchase and installation, if I had known it was going to be such a dissapointment, I would have simply kept the stock system. Now, I'm also second-guessing myself on the Steeda CAI & Tune, wondering if I should just cut my losses and sell it before it gets installed?
  6. Just got the exhaust installed this morning and, aside from the deeper tone, its not very loud to me. In fact, I feel this is the way it should have sounded stock. I haven't gotten a chance to go WOT, but I'm hoping it's louder when I do. However, I am pleased with how much better the larger Magnaflow exhaust tips look over the factory ones.
  7. Wow, that deer came out of nowhere! Where I live, most people would have loaded the deer in the trunk and took it home for breakfast! ? Too bad about your Fusion,. but sounds like you got a nice upgrade out of it.
  8. Thanks for the info. I still think it may be a free trial since I bought it from a big Nissan dealer and they have a current SiriusXM promotion: https://www.siriusxm.com/phx/trial-offer/nissan Also, I noticed a "SiriusXM" sticker on the driver side window that looked new. Did Ford ever put these on the Fusion or any of its other cars? At any rate, I should know momentarily as my three months will be up on January 10th. If it ceases before then, or goes beyond that date, then it is something other than the 90-day trial.
  9. Thanks, that's a pretty good deal. My 2010 Fusion came with SiriusXM so I wasn't sure if the dealer gave me a free trial or the previous owner forgot to cancel his subscription. Either way, I'm loving it! Is there a way to tell if I have a free or paid subscription?
  10. I didn't have any trouble when I signed up last month!
  11. Why not save yourself all the expense and headaches and just trade your 2016 2.5L in on a 2017 2.7 Turbo?
  12. I just bought the Steeda Power Package for my 2010 Sport which comes with the Cold Air Intake and the SCT X4 Handheld Tuner. I'm going to try it with the included Steeda tune and see how I like it. I plan to try both the 87 octane and 91 octane tune to see which I like better. If I'm not satisfied, there's also the very popular "Tuning by James" as well as Unleashed Tuning. I realize gains will be minimal on a naturally-aspirated engine, but I'm more interested in the improvement in responsiveness and drivability. Worst case scenario, I can always flash it back to stock and sell the intake and handheld tuner to get most of my money back.
  13. I just ordered the Magnaflow exhaust for my car. I've been debating it since I bought my 2010 Sport last month, but with the Black Friday deal and no tax/free shipping, I saved almost $300. I've owned performance cars all my life, and the stock exhaust was simply too quite for me. I thought about just buying the mufflers, but felt more comfortable getting the whole system as a complete unit. I realize the power gains will be minimal, but I know for the price I paid, it's well worth the aural enjoyment I'll receive every time I drive it. I also like the slightly larger exhaust tips which make it look more aggressive without being too big.
  14. Just checked the Autocraft Gold Battery that came in my 2010 Fusion Sport that I bought last month. It has a sticker that says it was installed June 2014, so it's six years old and that makes me nervous of the impending freeze we have coming in the next couple days. I know extremely cold temps can kill an older battery. In our last Ford, we had a Motorcraft battery that lasted six years, so I'm wondering if I should go with another one of those, or a well-rated aftermarket replacement like an Interstate? Is there a general consensus which is the best battery for our cars?
  15. Thanks for the info, guys. Haha, I don't know why but for some reason I keep saying Focus when I mean Fusion! ? Anyway, I'm enjoying the Fusion and won't stress too much over having to manually check the tires weekly. As I stated in another thread, if I continue to have good luck with it, I may trade it in on a '17 Sport in the next couple years. Then I can check the tire pressures from the instrument cluster! ?
  16. Hmmm, my 2002 Corvette has TPMS and I can view the individual pressures in the instrument cluster, so I just assumed that my 2010 Focus could do the same.
  17. Depending on which engine you have, a tune can really wake it up. I'm enjoying my 2012 Fusion Sport, so I plan on upgrading to a 2017 Sport in the next couple years. A tune will be the first mod I do to it!
  18. Wow, that is an epic fail on Ford's part! I can't believe they would offer TPMS but then omit the readouts. Looks like I'll have to keep checking them by hand every week as I've been doing every other car I've owned for the past 30 years! ☹️
  19. I bought this one two years ago to dry my Ferrari since I was worried about scratches. The Ferrari's gone, but I've continued to use it to dry my Corvette and Fusion. For $50, I've definitely gotten my money's worth from it. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ABYVTXM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  20. Hello bbf2530, Sorry, I thought the "Sport 3.5 V6" under Current Vehicle was visible to everyone. But yes, it is a 2010 Fusion Sport V6. My wife's 2015 has TPMS and the readouts from it are easily accessed. I've scrolled through the "Info" and "Setup" buttons but don't see anything about the tire pressure. According to the owner's manual, if the tire pressure drops 5 PSI below the recommended amount if should trigger a warning. Is it possible I will only get the warning and not the real-time readouts of the tire pressures?
  21. Hopefully this is not a dumb question. I've googled it and skimmed the whole owner's manual, but I can't find where to actually get a readout of the tire pressures in each tire. Is there some section in the instrument panel readout where it displays this? I've found all the other readouts for Trip, Mileage, Etc. Thanks for any help!
  22. I tried to get an online quote for mine, but it said the information wasn't available at the present time. Fortunately, mine only has 34,000 miles on it so maybe I'll be okay for a while.
  23. Thanks for the feedback. I'm a little slow in responding as we took a pretty big wallop from Hurricane Zeta. We lost power Wednesday night and just got it back last night. Fortunately, the Fusion was in our enclosed garage so no damage there! ?
  24. Sheesh, mine isn't quite that bad. However, my Sport is FWD and the trip computer says my average is 24 mpg, but taking the actual gallons and dividing by the mileage at each fill-up is a little more pessimistic (and perhaps accurate) at 23 mpg. Seeing as how the majority of my driving is highway, I was expecting something closer to the EPA HWY figure of 27-28. Since buying it a couple weeks ago, I've changed everything but the ignition coils and spark plugs. Given that my car is ten years old, but only has 34,000 miles, would it be advisable to change these two items?
