  1. I figured the Ford dealership and the technicians Ford sent in to try and get my car going would have more than enough expertise to work on my car. Yes, preventive maintenance is better but than reactive maintenance, but things were happening to this vehicle since I owned it that even preventative maintenance would not have found.
  2. This happened to my 2016 Fusion. Stopped the engine and checked under the hood and no coolant in the over flow tank. Restarted the engine and no warning message and the temperature gauge returned to normal. Drove to my mechanic and when he looked under the hood the overflow tank was at normal level. About a month later after normal use, the engine refused to start. Well after 4 months in the Ford dealership and trying everything, they couldn’t get it going. I got rid of the car and now have a Subaru Legacy. No more Fords!
  3. It's an easy fix and I'm sure you could do it. Well I wish the next problem with my 2016 Fusion was as easy to fix. In March 2023 it just stopped running. I used the car and a few hours later I went to start it and all the engine did was crank but didn't start. Towed it to the dealer and they had it for 4 months and couldn't get it going even with tech help from the Ford factory. I ended up getting it towed to a Subaru dealer who gave me $1000 for it and I have a 2021 Legacy. The last Ford I will buy!
  4. I purchased a 2016 Ford Fusion 1.5L in January of 2020 at my local Ford Dealer. I liked the cars design and all the special features it came with. After 3 1/2 years of which it spent 7 months in the shop at the dealership, I traded it in. The first thing to go wrong was after only 8 months, the engine would cut out while I was driving. It would start right back up and it would run fine for a while before doing it again. I took it to the dealer and they had it for a week and it worked fine. Until I got it back and it cut out on me again. After a few more weeks at the dealership, it finally did it to them. They finally determined it was the transmission and it needed to be changed. Lucky it was still in warranty. The car ran fine for a while before I lost power steering and power brakes while driving. Took it to the dealership and after a few weeks they found some broken wires inside the driver side wheel well. I was back on the road again. Then the next thing to go wrong was I was unable to shift the car out of reverse in my driveway. It was a clip that attached the shifter cable to the transmission. After checking with Ford about a safety recall for this, I had to pay to get it repaired. Then a few month later Ford issued a recall for this and I got my repair money back. The final straw came in March of 2023 when my car would crank but not start in my driveway after using it a few hours before. Had it towed to the same dealership I purchased it from in 2020 and after 4 months they could not get it going. They even had techs from Ford look at it. At that point I had enough of this car and had the car towed to another car dealership where they gave me $1000 for it. My Fusion nightmare was finally over!!!!!!
  5. Just had a similar problem with my 2016 Ford Fusion. I had my mechanic check it out and his scanner found a bad driver side wheel sensor. He replaced it and the lights would not clear. Ended up taking it to my Ford dealer and they traced it to broken wires in the wheel well. They replaced them and the problem went away.
  6. I took my 2016 Ford Fusion to the dealer last week for the display problem. After a two hour labor cost of $129 per hour, they told me it was the display that was bad and it would cost me $1102.29 to replace. The cost of the display alone they said was $678.00. I told them to button up the car and I would pick it up. I'm going to see if I can purchase a new display myself which I have found on line for under $200 and install it myself. I have done this type of work before on cars and found a good Youtube video on how to get it removed. I will do a follow up to this once I get around to doing it. 9/27/21 I purchased a used display on e-Bay for $119.00 and installed it yesterday in my 2016 Ford Fusion and it's working perfectly. The hardest part was removing the trim pieces so I could get to the display. Just under an hour to do.

  8. I have the same issue with the screen going dark but the buttons work. Just started doing this the other day. Then the screen came back on while I was driving. Then after a few minutes it went dark again. Could not find any information on this problem on line so far. Any other people have this issue?
  9. I had the dealer replace a broken passenger side front underbody shied that was broken by them when they replaced my transmission, which is another story, a month ago. I no sooner left the dealership, when I heard a rattling noise when I got up to 65 MPH on a smooth road. On a bumpy road, I would hear nothing. It wasn't there when I took the car in. I went right back to the dealership and took a technician out for a test ride and let him hear the rattle. After waiting two hours, he said he found the problem to be a shield in the rear of the car. Not more than two hours later, the rattling returned. Having worked on repairing equipment all my life, I decided to take a look myself and see if I could fix the problem. After a few days of checking things out, I went to the shield they had just replaced and found that to be the problem. There was a hole in the shield that a bolt was rubbing up against causing the noise. Like running your finger across the top of a drum. I increased the size of the hole so the bolt threads would not rub against it and the problem was solved.
