Got a 2013 1.6l ecoboost that makes an intermittent hum when engine is warm at idle, about 780rpm. Can’t hear it when engine is cold and rpms are up. Sounds like it’s coming from the VVT exhaust sprocket. I replaced the timing belt at 150k, using motorcraft parts and following the ford service tech manual. I have 160k miles now, and it started making this noise about 2000 miles ago. Took it to a shop today to see what they come up with and they think the engine is slightly off on the timing. They think it’s not an issue because it throws no codes, no misfires, no smoke, no lack of power, or rough idle. What are your thoughts…. I’m at a lost besides trying to re time the thing, but I feel like that’s not it.
