  1. I drive in New York City where you are guaranteed to hit a big pothole at least one a month and a small one once a day. Yep, my steel wheels are shot. Costco replaced all four tires recently and when I complained about the noise they made they wouldn't honor their exchange policy unless I got four new wheels. They claimed the bent wheels caused the new tires to make noise while driving at high speeds.
  2. Adee, can you supply a link to the FULL ForScan product you purchased. Also, instead of spending hours searching the forum can you take a few minutes to write down your experience and fix PLEASE? Much appreciated. My Fusion 2011 was parked in a 2 foot river of water supplied by Hurricane Ida for a few hours. I let the car dry for a day and a half with doors open after water on street drained. I was able to start the engine and everything worked fine for 15 minutes when all of a sudden I smelled fire and smoke came out of the dashboard vents. It stopped after a minute or two but after that the power steering hasn't worked and I get "power steering fault" and "advancetrac" lights. No other lights on dashboard and car works completely including electronic car seat switch, radio, AC, windows, rear window heater, lights, etc. The only thing damaged was the power steering and wet mats/carpet.
  3. Thanks for the replies and concern people. I checked fuse 42 inside the passenger fuse box and it didn't blow. The 50 Amp fuse 1 and fuse 2 in the engine fuse box didn't blow either! It's possible some other fuse blew which is causing the power steering and AdvanceTrac issues I am having. I'm going to go through them one by one. The fuse box in the passenger area is so difficult to access, though, and I'm really going to have to motivate myself for that one. Amazingly, everything else is working: radio, lights, electronic key entry, ABS, car seat adjustment button, airbags and probably AC but I'm holding off on starting AC until my car is 100% dry (it's probably 99% dry by now since mats/carpet are almost completely dry). I have no comprehensive insurance on Fusion since it's a 2011 so I'll hope for the best. A $1,500 power steering repair is cheaper than buying a new $25,000 car.
  4. Hurricane Ida caused a flash flood where my car was parked and my car was in 2 feet of water with the high water mark around the bottom of the inside fuse box under the driver's side dashboard. It sat in rain water for probably 6-8 hours. I disconnected the battery and let the car dry out for 30 hours. I was able to start the car after that and drove it for 20 minutes with no issues but then as I pulled into the Jiffy Lube bay smoke started coming out of the vents and it smelled of fire starting. Long story short, there was no fire and the smoke subsided but the power steering went. My dashboard has "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" and "SERVICE ADVANCETRAC" warnings lit. I'm guessing the fuse blew which is why a fire didn't start but any suggestions on how to proceed? Should I wait a few days and just try replacing the fuse and see if everything dried out?
