  1. Hello, I just wanted to confirm that the electronic power steering rack from a 2011 2.5 L is compatible with a 2011 3.0 Liter car. I also wanted to confirm if I can flash the as-built data using Forscan to get it programmed in. I will be using a used part from a salvage yard.
  2. I will try and see if the problem is a grounding issue and verify all grounds that go to the steering module are good. This individual had a similar error and it was a grounding fault. https://www.mustangecoboost.net/threads/lost-comm-to-power-steering-module-fixed.24734/ Does the electric power steering come on only when the engine is on, or does turning the key to the on position without starting the car also enable power steering ? these are the relevant connectors I will use to check the grounds: I will check The grounds and power. Perhaps I can also see the CAN bus signal on an oscilliscope (might be a bit akward but not impossible to connect it up and view while under the car)
  3. I would like to know if it is possible to replace the electronic power steering in my 2011 3.0 V6 FUSION with a hydraulic unit from a 2006-2009 fusion.
  4. I am considering buying a 2012 fusion with the key snapped off in the ignition and no key. What is the procedure to set up a new key if I change the ignition switch assembly. I can easily get an igntion assembly at the junkyard. Can i program it with forscan without an original key? edit - answered by by tractmec » Tue Aug 09, 2022 7:42 pm:
  5. I fixed this check engine code by reflashing the as-built data to the PCM in forscan and resetting the PCM . Posting this here for other peoples reference.
  6. My engine has been fine, though the timing cover broke. I put about 20k miles on the car since the swap. the timing cover broke when my motor mount failed. i have fixed the timing cover and it is running again.
  7. I believe my module on my power steering rack may have been damaged by a short caused by a motor mount collapse. Can I change just the module and reprogram it in using forscan ? It seems three fuses are on the power distribution to this system
  8. I will check these fuses on my car (2011 AWD SEL) that has the advanceTrac warning and loss of power steering. Fuse 42 and 1,2 in the engine bay seems the most relevant AND THEY WERE BURNED OUT. When my motor mount collapsed, some wiring was damaged and it must have shorted out, killing these fuses. I still do not have power steering but the advance track warning lights are gone after replacement of the fuses. 9. I may have missed a ground when re-asembling my vehicle. I will keep this in mind.
  10. Thanks for the share. I have a few wires which where slightly damaged like that when my motor mount collapsed. Perhaps they could be the cause of the problem.
  11. I am not asking a question, just mainly sharing a problem on my car that I diagnosed for others to learn from. My motor mount collapsed recently and the AC compressor failed because the engine fell onto the subframe cradle and smashed the compressor. Whenever the AC is on, the engine immediately stalls. This is because the engine does not produce enough torque at idle to rotate the damaged AC compressor.
  12. After my motor mount collapsed, my axle broke, and my steering rack stopped working. The steering rack does not seem to be physically damaged. I believe the incident caused it to be electronically disabled. I am wondering what procedure I should follow to rest this system in Forscan. I have the code u0131. I replaced fuse 42 in the engine cabin . Are the other fuses that are relevant. Perhaps it is a wiring fault or a connector was left unplugged under the car. This is the main electrical diagram
  13. I just wanted to share that I sucesfully deleted the AWD system on my 2011 fusion by removing the drive shaft and two off the gears in the PTU. I used the original AWD intermediate shaft. The PTU had lost all lubrication and was very noisy. This was due to the Ford manufacturing defect (no drain plug on PTU). Also when I had the driveshaft in, something was binding.
  14. My power steering stopped working after my motor mount failure. The engine collapsed onto the subframe, breaking the axle. I am wondering what the exact procedure to reset the steering rack module is in forscan. I imagine we reflash the as-built data ?
