I have what sounds like the same issue with my 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid. For me it first happened during a drive to a ski resort. Super loud popping noise while the music was cutting out. Then no music at all and Crazy loud popping noise. Only turning off the radio silenced the noise. For me, the problem went away after I drove home (warmer and lower altitude). But this morning, it happened again. Not sure if it is temperature related, but it was pretty cold this morning.
