  1. +1 on the DWS. Great tires, had mine for about a year now and been very happy with them! :cheerleader:
  2. Sign me up for a Titanium AWD 2.0L turbo! Ford finally went and built my (realistic) dream car. I fell in love with this thing the second I saw it. Now I look at my 2010 with disgust.
  3. What would the expected life of the stock Motorcraft battery be? I just had to replace mine after only two years, 36K miles. For some reason this seems pretty quick to me. Maybe I'm just over thinking it. Midway though washing the car today it wouldn't start as I was moving it into the garage for a wax, end up having to jump it off my wife's car and went down to Advance and they said it was bad. Thankfully they were having a sale and it was $99 for a replacement. It wouldn't sting so much, except only a few hours earlier I threw down $700+ for new tires (Continental Extreme Contact DWS) that I was replacing early because I was not going to deal with another winter and the crappy stock Michelins.
  4. Fair enough. So do you remove the entire mounting bracket from the window now, or just not use a detector anymore? This is how I currently have it mounted, it's not hardwired, it's hardly noticeable from the outside. Right now I run the power cable across the headliner and down the side. If there was an easy way to tap in, closer to the unit, that's really what I'm looking for. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/170182/V1/IMG_0085.JPG http://dl.dropbox.com/u/170182/V1/IMG_0086.jpg http://dl.dropbox.com/u/170182/V1/IMG_0087.jpg (Yes, I know my car needs a bath.) I really would like to center it up more, so I still flip the sunvisor down, but the little bubble pattern makes it so the suction cups don't grip very well.
  5. Has anyone here used Mirrortap for a radar detector hard wire (V1) in a Fusion? It looks like a really slick and easy way to get it installed, especially if you get a bracket mount to keep it secured in place. www.mirrortap.com Thoughts?
  6. I have this same problem and it sucks. What is this shift kit you speak of?
  7. I have the 35W DDM 5000K and they are plenty bright. The 55W just seems like it's overkill and would be an annoyance for other drivers.
  8. It is, but I won't hold it against you. I ended up going with 35% on the doors and 20% on the back deck. I was set to go 35% all around but switched at the last minute after some prodding from my coworker. He says I won't regret it. :P
  9. I'm going in tomorrow to get my Fusion tinted, after putting up with crazy hot drives home from work last year. I'm having a hard time deciding on what % to tell them tomorrow. (FYI, it's a 2010 Black on Black) http://dl.dropbox.com/u/170182/2011-06-10%20at%2007.03.17.jpg Originally I was going to go 35% all the way around, because that's what is legal in Kansas. From what I've heard the cops are not really that picky in this area because we're along the state line and Missouri law is 35% front and anything in the backs. So from what I've been told if you're not less than 20% on anything the cops don't really think about it. However my coworker who used to work in a tint shop many years ago says I should do 20% on the rear window, and 35% on all the doors. Since that's where a lot of the sun is penetrating during the day. (I just bought a Covercraft UVS100 custom cut sun shade for the front window that should be here next week) -- This way I'm legal as far as what the cops can really test, and would probably go unnoticed that there was a difference. He's taking his new WRX hatch in with me at the same time tomorrow to get it done too. He's going 35% on the doors and 20% on the hatch. The guy at the tint shop says I should go 35% in the front, 20% on the back doors and the rear. I kind of like this for maximum heat deflection and privacy (especially when I start hauling kids around) but I'm not sure how it's going to look with the difference, I'm also a little worried about the cops. Thoughts? Anyone have pictures similar to what I'm thinking about?
  10. Yeah I own mine, so to hell with what the dealer thinks. When I decide to dump it the next owner can get the HIDs for free. No eliminator was required. Everything fired right up with no codes.
  11. I've completed my switch out of the low beams to HIDs, using the Digital Slim kit from DDM Tuning. http://www.ddmtuning.com/Products/DDM-HID-Kit-Slim-Ballast-35W-or-55W I went with the 35W (plenty of power) at 5000K. Side by side with the stock bulbs. I'd never done a switch like this before, so a guy I work with who's done probably over a dozen of these did most of the heavy lifting. In his words "this is the hardest car I've ever done, I'll never volunteer to do a Fusion again." To access each bulb we used the owners manual suggested method of accessing the bulbs, which BTW is the biggest load of crap. While removing the airbox housing to change a bulb isn't the end of the world, the process of removing the passenger side wheel well is insane. It's like a bunch of Ford engineers got high when coming up with that method and thought it be funny to leave it like that. After gaining access we snipped the stock harness and soldered/shrink-wrapped the wiring together for a proper clean connection. All of that was done inside of the chassis of the car, which on the driver side wasn't too huge of a chore. On the passenger side we looked like a couple of doctors performing surgery, feeding a soldering iron up through the bottom while holding the wires still, and the other with the eyes on the operation held the lead down from the top. At this point they are hard wired in and there is no going back. It would honestly be a bigger process to go back then going to this point. But they look great in my opinion. It was worth the 4 hours of work it took to figure it out. This is of course compared to the 15 minutes it took my friend to do his father-in-law's Jeep last weekend. Anyone interested in this swap be aware, it's not an easy process.
  12. The Euro Fusion looks nothing like the US one, I don't even think it's a sedan? Would be nice of them to unify the product line though. Probably save them a lot of money and bring over some of the more refined european styling along with it. The reason I like my new Fusion so much is it reminds me of something that came out of Germany, not Michigan
  13. Kansas City Home of BBQ, jazz, and production of the F-150, Escape & Escape Hybrid
  14. I'm a huge Microsoft nerd (work in IT) so I think the Microsoft badge is pretty cool too Weclome!
