  1. So then, why all the emphasis to keep building bigger and more powerful V6s and to upgrade cars as they get facelifts with bigger motors such as the 3.5 and 3.7 from Ford? 2016 isn't that far in the future and you would think we'd begin to see some of the alternatives sooner rather then later. Someone mentioned Diesel and yes, I would love to see some diesel alternatives in the cars we drive today. I'd also like to see some alternative vehicles driven by Hydrogen or even some solar charged cars as well. Hydrogen has allot of vehicle potential yet you don't ever hear any of the big auto Companies discuss this alternative. Why is that? Big Oil is the answer, Big profits, Big partnerships, Big back door agreements, etc. etc. http://www.hydrogencarsnow.com/
  2. Exactly! It's all relative to what you have had in the past or what you yourself consider to be bad, adequate or good. That's why there's a few people who rave about the 12 speaker Sony that claims to put out 390 watts (not nearly accurate I don't belive) and those like me who find the system to be mediocre at best. I can agree with you that it's 'not bad at all" but it just isn't spectacular or worth a lot of money either. I have owned cars in my past with stock base systems that come close in power and quality to this supposed top end system.
  3. Hey guys n gals, We are thinking of putting together a central New Jersey gathering for all Fusion, Milan and MKZ owners, especially those of us who are Forum members. This is the potential site: http://www.jbsdiner.com/ JB's Diner 205 Monmouth Road (Route 537 - Northeast of 6-Flags) Freehold, NJ 07728-7930 Thinking of either a Friday night or a Saturday night, beginning at 5 p.m. (JB's closes at 8 p.m.) and is likely to have "car hop" service during the summer. (They also hold 50s classic car shows every Monday night at 5 p.m. beginning in June.) I called and they are OK with us just picking our own date and coming down any day and time. QUESTIONS Before we finalize this: A. Would you try to attend? B. What do you prefer, Friday night or Saturday night? C. What month would you prefer, June, July or August? I would pick a rain date as well, in case the weekend is a rain out. Also, thinking of asking for a $1 donation from everyone to cover dinner for the Fusion / Milan/ MKZ that travelled the furthest distance to attend. What do you think? Of course this is open to all, not just Jerseyans but this location is rather central for our entire State. Please reply and remember to answer the questions above. Thanks!
  4. Well, I'm the one who started this thread and I appreciate all the answers and input. Bottom line is I ordered a new Milan with the "Moon & Tune" because I wanted the Sony system. Yet, I don't expect much as I honestly feel the Sony system is just adequate, nothing special. I didn't want to get the 6-speaker base system and then need to upgrade it. I can "live" with the Sony system but do know it is a disappointment overall. Those that "rave" about it just don't seem tot know what a decent car stereo system should sound like or never had one as mediocre as the Sony system honestly is.
  5. I agree, that looks like "pry" marks all around that front lip area. The dealer may not even cover that under warranty and you may need to then persue the claim though your Insurance for the damage done. Hard to tell by the photos but there is more going on then just the plastic beginning to "curl up" and it does appear that there are scratch and pry marks in the paint right there too.
  6. By virtue of the definition of the word "selfish" concerned chiefly or only with yourself and your advantage to the exclusion of others Source: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&rls=com.microsoft:en-us&defl=en&q=define:selfish&ei=n0y2S4OjFoL7lweV84Fd&sa=X&oi=glossary_definition&ct=title&ved=0CAYQkAE Therefore, any Company engaged in the persuit of profit is therefore "selfish," with the only exclusions being non-profit Companies. Why do you find my statement so offensive? You don't think they fit that given definition? Of course they're being selfish.
  7. Agreed! However the car companies are not holding gas mileage down with the thoughts of saving our planet either. They are doing it for other selfish reasons like financial profit and other gains coming from the big oil companies. So those are two distinct seperate issues that shouldn't be confused with each other. The Car companies don't really give a rats azz about saving our planet, in spite of there current line of "green advertising," meant to appease us all.
  8. I totally disagree. We could have been getting the mileage we get today in cars 20 years ago, if not longer. Efforts and technologies that would greatly enhance fuel mileage have been bought up and squashed by big business, big oil and big politicians in bed with them all. Even today, hybrids are a scarce commodity on a dealers lot and production is artificially inhibited helping to maintain a high premium price and hindering demand. After all this time, they will now tell you that they can't build the batteries fast enough. Bullchit I say, that's just another excuse in a long line of excuses to keep OIL flowing into our cars and money flowing into their pockets. I'll bet China could build batteries fast enough.....
  9. Can you please post a photo of your mirror with the problem? I've never seen glass bend and would like to see that. Welcome to the forum!!
  10. In my opinion, the Sony 12 speaker 390 watt system is barely adequate and its nothing special. Yea, I ordered it because it still has to be better then the stock 6 speaker system but afterlistening to it in several test cars, I was not overly impressed. it will not blow you away. The "bass" does seem to be weak. It's "livable" for someone like me for a car but I wouldn't live with it's level of performance if I were shopping a home system. It's just OK is all.
  11. Let me venture a guess, Is this the guy that found his new Fusion had way too harsh of a ride??
  12. They look really good and if all they cost you are 1-2 mpg, no big deal. Some would probably say though that IT IS a big deal but the only one it matters to is yourself. Car looks sportier then any other FFH.
  13. In cell phone lingo it stands for: In Case of Emergency
  14. Congrats! I-4 or V6? Post some pics please.
  15. In case there's any question, the one you're driving is a "girls" car..... :hysterical2:
  16. Let's see how he feels about it after his heater core starts gurgling.... LOL (j/k) And welcome to the forum (I failed to mention that earlier) and good choice of cars!
  17. Yes, the "Appearance Package" adds the very same suspension and tires as the Sport Model, along with nicer 18" wheels too. It's a rather nice deal for the price, plus there are interior upgrades too.
  18. Oh yea, I'm sure your Toyota Corolla was "crap." (NOT!) Up until 2010, that was one of the most popular and most dependable cars on this PLANET, so no need to impress your new Ford friends by bashing what was likely a great vehicle.
  19. Looks good! Let us know how it holds up to road debris, bugs and road projectiles.

    E85?

Agreed! Now I think I'm going to simply "debadge" any Flex Fuel stickers or plastic chrome stick-ons that I find on my new car and just run gasoline, period. Besides, I get reimbursed for my mileage based upon fuel cost so turning in low priced receipts only hurt me, especially if they also yielded lower gas mileage too.

    E85?

Post your results if you do run it in your car. I'm getting the same motor in mine and would like to know the economics of it all, gas mileage versus expense etc. I travel the east Coast, mainly the Northeast and may run into opportunities to put it in my tank now that you're seeing it out on the Island. The 3.0 V6 motor is rated for Flex Fuel E85 in the 2010s. I don't know about previous years though.
  22. I know what you mean. Right here in this thread it took me three seperate posts to get someone to answer me about what motors this was happening to. And the first answer I got was not an answer at all, but a critisizm to "calm down" because I made the third post in bigger blue letters... I can imagine someone coming in fresh and seeing 24 pages of this with no real organization and certainly more questions then any answers. Still say I'm really glad I didnt order the I-4 motor.. Feel for those that did and are having this problem.
  23. Can't this section be deleted? - It serves no purpose whatsoever on a Ford Fusion Forum.

  24. I have followed this thread but only moderately as I don't have the problem because I don't even have my new car yet, and besides mine will be a V6 3.0 anyway. Sure glad I didn't order the 4 banger though.... But that said, it seems to me that isolating the problem to the heater core seems so elementary simple and yet Ford has taken the pains and expense to replace whole engines and if I remember reading correctly, heads too. Now I would have thought they would eliminate all the simple stuff (like a heater core) before going through all that? You would think so right? Also a suggestion with this thread in excess of 20 pages now. Somebody should consider keeping a capsule summery that they keep updated and posted every page or two, so nobody has to read through the more then 20 pages to see what has happened and who and what it affects. Might get more participation too that way as seeing 20 plus pages can be overwhelming for someone just coming in. I'd suggest a summery of the facts, posted every two pages moving forward. Just a thought. Maybe add one line per person affected and what has transpired so far, i.e. new engine installed, results etc. Might be nice to take that summery post to your local dealer when you need to bring this complaint to their attention. Include the forum topic address in there too for them to access the thread.
