  1. I want to order a dash cover for my hybrid. The online retailers are asking if I want a mat with the climate control sensor location marked, or cutout. Does anyone know where the sensor is located? Does anyone have a recommendation for which mat to order...or not order? Thanks in advance...
  2. I finally found someone to chrome my hybrid rims and what a difference! They look waaaay better in chrome and it matches the rest of the chrome on the car. If you're in So. Cal. and want your rims chromed, call Fabian at Paramount Wheels 714-713-0756. His shop is in Santa Ana. He came to my house in Palm Springs (about 2 hours away), put the car on jacks, removed the wheels and took them to his shop. One week later, he brought them back chromed and balanced, and installed them on the car. All for $165 per wheel. For the convenience of pick up and delivery I think this is a great price. The only negative is not being able to use the car for a week but it was worth the wait. I'll post pics as soon as possible.
  3. I saw it too....search for "lighted sill plates"...the author was SMR2112 on 9/11/09. He had the same problem.
  4. I just discovered that the long-term mileage can be reset using the dash settings. Look for "resets" and select "long term".
  5. My seat has the same indention...maybe it has something to do with the lumbar mechanism? Otherwise the leather is tight and smooth. I have a pic but for some reason can't upload it. The forum thinks I've exceeded a limit....I'll keep trying. BTW...congrats on your long awaited delivery and highly debated color combination selection!
  6. In CA, it's not legal to put tint on on the windshield, driver's door or front passenger's door. But since it's so common I think they don't care much unless it's too dark. That being said, I had them put the lightest tint possible on the windshield to cut down on the heat (I'm in Palm Springs), medium on the front doors, dark on the three rear windows and mirrored on the sunroof. You'd be surprised how hot the sunroof gets in 115 degree blasts. It looks fantastic. The tint on the windshield is so light that you can't tell it's there, but the dash doesn't get hot and the cabin stays much cooler and the a/c cools it down very quickly. For some reason, the tint completely adhered to the dots around the rear view mirror, but not on the top of the back window. But it still looks great. :shades:
  7. The black dots are raised so the tint adheres to the dots but not to the recessed spaces in between. That's what causes the white appearance. I had all windows tinted (even windshield) and then crawled into the back once a day for three days and pressed the tint into the recesses. It didn't turn out perfectly but it's good enough that no one notices unless they're standing next to the car and I point it out to them. However, when driving and the sun is behind the car, I can see it in the rear view mirror, but it's not enough for me to worry about. If you're a perfectionist it may bother you.
  8. I've read in this forum that mpg will increase after a few thousand miles. I previously posted that I've been consistenly averaging 28-29mpg (with a/c full blast - 110 degrees here). I just hit 2,500 miles and it's like someone flipped a switch in the car. My last two 50 mile trips achieved 44.4 mpg and 50.5 mpg! It's still extremely hot here and the a/c and driving conditions haven't changed. Looks like my long term mpg will finally be going up! WooHoo!
  9. One of my previous cars had alloy wheels and the dealer sent them out to be chromed before I took delivery. I've owned the car for 9 years now and the chrome finish looks just like it did the day I picked up the car. I've had no problems with them at all.
  10. I also thought about having the stock wheels chromed, but every company I found says it will take a week...and you have to ship the wheels to them and pay for shipping back. I can't have the car down for a week so that's why I decided to find new wheels instead. Google "chrome my wheels" and you'll get links for companies that do this. The most efficient way is "chrome exchange" but the FFH is too new for them to have extra sets of the wheels available. If you find someone that does, please let me know as that was originally my first choice.
  11. I'm looking at new rims for my FFH and want to be sure I stay with a similar weight, but can't find the weight specifications for the stock rims. Does anyone know?
  12. My in-town driving is mostly stop-go-stop-go and usually less than a mile. If I get onto the freeway I can hit 37mpg. There's a lot of red lights here (every couple of blocks) and I barely get up to the speed limit before having to stop again. But again, I'm not complaining because my current mpg is double that of my last car. So I'm still way ahead. I'm just curious to see what happens when things cool off. The way I see it, this should be the worst mileage I get and it can only go up from here.
  13. Ok...now I'm jealous. I just rolled over 1,500 miles on my FFH and am still on my 4th tank. My average so far is 28.5. So I guess I win the award for lowest possible mileage. Now to clarify, it's been 110 - 115 degrees over the last few weeks so the a/c is on full blast 100% of the time. Even though my mpg is lower than everyone's, it is still double my last car so I'm very pleased. I can only assume that when summer ends, my mpg will increase dramatically.
  14. One thing I have to learn about is how to best get the battery charged fully. I assume that master FFH drivers keep their batteries at the top of the scale most of the time. I could not get it there in my 120 mile drive home which consisted of city, town, and Interstate driving. I did start deceling(??new word??) much sooner and applying the brakes for much longer periods of time. But I will need to do some heavy research like you have and understand what the masses do. I have the same question. I rarely see my battery gauge above 1/2. Even the manual says this is normal. Additionally, it's 109 degrees where I live so I'm assuming that the heavy draw for the a/c is keeping it low.
